Americano: A Navy Blue Scalloped Shift Dress

in Style, Summer outfits on 07/26/16

When I think of the word scalloped, I think of seafood. That’s just the first thing that comes to my mind.

Shift dresses are the easiest thing for me to wear to work. Instead of putzing around in my closet deciding which top to wear with a skirt or pants, it is much easier to just throw on a shift, accessorize, and go.

I styled this cute scalloped shift dress a little more casually because I was dying to wear these espadrilles. I like dresses that are mostly simple with a little flair, because then you can add your own personality and style. They are kind of like a blank canvas, but a really high quality one. I personally love to add colored belts and statement necklaces, but some other ideas are a scarf, blazer, booties, or a statement earring.

Did I mention that my dress is only $13? It also comes in light blue. I recommend sizing down, as it runs quite large. I picked an extra small and I’m super happy with the fit.

Apologies for the short post – it is super duper early in the morning, but I really wanted to post this outfit for you!

p.s. – I’ve been playing around shooting in manual mode on my DSLR – I’m pretty happy with how these photos turned out! The other photos we have shot in manual mode so far are from this post. I’d love your feedback!

I see, scallops = half-circles! High quality canvas is a smart way to think about it. I guess the point is not always for a piece of clothing to be a completely elaborated package.

P.S. “This is Top Chef, not Top Scallops!”
