DRESS c/o | SHEIN KIMONO c/o | ESPADRILLES | SUNNIES
I seriously love Shein clothing. Just search “Shein” in the search bar up top and you’ll see how much I wear their stuff. They always have trendy pieces for waaaaaay way less than other retailers. Since I started ordering from them in 2015, they’ve upped their game SO much! With such a vast inventory, I get that shopping there can be a bit intimidating. But when you have a mission of finding something specific, it’s pretty easy to find good options!
While I love shopping for maternity clothing from maternity-specific brands (here’s a post I wrote about my favorite cute maternity brands) I also like pushing the limit a bit and trying to find things that work that aren’t just for maternity! When I’m shopping a non-maternity brand, I always size up to fit the bump and bigger breast size. I make sure to read the reviews, and focus on stretchy, forgiving fabrics rather than boxy, fitted items with zippers. And just to be clear, all this Shein clothing works for non-maternity, too! Here are five categories of specific styles I look for that are bump-friendly!
SHEIN BIKINI c/o ($12 and comes in 13 colors!) | SHEIN KIMONO | SANDALS, option | SHEIN LEMON PRINT SWIMSUIT c/o (just $15)
FAVORITE MATERNITY FRIENDLY SHEIN CLOTHING:
1.Swimwear.
You can find the BEST and cutest swimwear for such good prices! Two things to keep in mind – 1) high-waisted bikinis are hard to pull off the bigger the belly gets and 2) you likely need more support for your growing breasts. I just got two swimsuits from Shein and ordered a large in both! I linked some other favorites below.
2.Kimonos.
Kimonos are super popular right now, and not just for the beach! You can wear them as a lighter substitute for a cardigan over dresses, or with your favorite shorts and a tee. Being pregnant has made my skin much more sensitive, so I like to keep my shoulders covered if possible.
This might not be an obvious need for non-pregnant folks. But kimonos have helped fill a huge hole in my maternity closet. A Kimono helps cover your arms, back, butt – anything that might feel wonky with your growing body. Of course – you have absolutely nothing to hide! But a Kimono is a good layering option. There’s also the point of modesty. I found that my favorite comfortable bodycon maternity dress is little too showy for work or a family occasion, and a kimono covers things up just enough enough without making me feel too hot. Non-preggo girls – this trend is for you, too!

3.Bodycon dresses.
Anything with a lot of stretch is a fabulous bang for your buck! Those stretchy bodycon pieces will take you all the way through your pregnancy and beyond. I’ve found that I get the most use out of my bodycon dresses because they are comfortable and look super flattering! I currently have 4 and wear them SO much with different jackets, kimonos, and cardigans. See how I styled my green one here and light blue one here!
4.Empire waist dresses.
This style is a bit harder to find, and the fit really depends on your belly size, bust, and the fabric choice. But they really work for obvious reasons. I love how sweet and romantic an empire waist dress makes me feel.

5.Loose, Flowy Silhouettes.
With the hottest months of June-August coming up, breatheable is key. Unluckily, I’ll be going through the end of my third trimester during the hottest days of summer! I wanted a baby super badly, and I didn’t really plan it too well, haha. I’ll survive.
I love flowy maxis and mini dresses because you can wear them as they are, or belt them right above your bump on a cooler day.
I’m really happy that I’ll be able to wear anything I get from Shein beyond my pregnancy, too. If you’re still looking for inspiration on how to shop for Shein clothing, here’s a post I wrote to make sure you’re doing it right! However, I will say that shipping is now super quick. I hardly ever wait long before my items arrive!
