Fashion Basics
There are those times when you just want to wrap yourself in a blanket and hide. When the world is stressing you out and the last thing you want to do is come up with an elaborate outfit. I’ve been kind of feeling that way lately. Which is why today I wanted to share why I’m going back to wearing more fashion basics.
We were just looking at the map of Washington, DC’s inauguration “red zone“, and we used to live in that zone close to Union Station. Dan and I agreed that while we loved it SO much, we are glad that we aren’t there right now. But we are always thinking about our friends and family who still live close to the Capitol. I’ll be holding my breath until (and probably after) the Inauguration on Wednesday.
At times like these when my head is spinning and running and doing all kinds of acrobatics, I almost always reach for my basics. A good quality soft henley, trusty jeans or leggings, and either sneakers or flat, comfy boots. Things that make me feel the most comfortable, so that I can do my daily tasks and enjoy my day with ease. Here are some of my favorite basics:
What are your fashion basics? Let me know in a comment below!
Let’s hope that we don’t have any eventful news this week!

I totally agree Roxanne. Basics are what gets me through the day and no matter how life gets, I just know that my go-tos will always be helpful to uplifting my mood. Sending positive vibes to your friends and family that love close to the Capitol. I pray they are safe. Wishing you a great week ahead and happy Monday!

Roxanne, you look adorable and so cozy, too. I was thinking about people who live in the DC area recently and wondered how they were faring. I hope all your friends and loved ones are safe in that hot zone. I wouldn’t want to be anywhere except where I am in the way far northern reaches of New York where it is rural and populations are small and we are far removed from the turmoil in the world right now. Stay comfy, stay cozy, stay safe, my friend.

I do wish I was far away from the action like you. I hope Chicago stays news-free this week.
