My weekend was one of the best I’ve had in SO long. I traveled to DC to visit family and friends from Thursday to Sunday. And let me tell you – I needed it so much. These kinds of weekends always leave my heart so full; because being with people that you know will literally run through a wall for you (and you would do the same) is a refreshing and un-self conscious experience.
It was a weekend recharge that I really needed after a few weeks of routine at home. At the same time, I felt super grumpy yesterday when I stepped off the plane in Chicago. Probably because I miss my friends and I’m not ready to go back to the regular tasks of the week. Saying goodbye is something I’ve always had a hard time with. Goodbye to friends, goodbye to the weekend, goodbye to vacation. But I’m fortunate to be able to travel and have such good friends all around the country, and they’re just a flight away.
About The Perfect Summer Dress
Like I said before, I know you’ve seen this perfect summer dress on other bloggers. I decided to switch it up a bit and make it casual-cute with my new Reunion Shoe Company custom sneakers! Reunion Shoe Company is SO incredible so I have to tell you about it! Every pair of shoes is custom-made by someone who is transitioning out of homelessness in New Orleans. Each purchase ensures that Reunion’s employees receive honest wages, weekly appointments with a social worker, and professional counseling. You get to wear some sweet one-of-a-kind kicks that have literally changed an individual’s life. I have the purple splatter paint ones and I LOVE them! They would make a fabulous gift.
My dress is from Loft (one of my favorite places to shop for fun patterns and fabrics!) I typically size down in Loft pieces, but I ended up getting a regular small and it fits! The dress is so fabulous because you can dress it up with heels, add your own belt, put the shoulders up or down, or dress it down for a day of running around the city with your favorite sneaks. I just loooove it!

Actually you are the only blogger I have seen this dress on and I love how you styled it! Those colorful sunnies and shoes are perfection! I also love the story behind the shoes. I appreciate companies like that because it helps others in need. I feel you on the friends and family front.
