Distressed Denim – In Or Out?
So is distressed clothing in or out? I personally love distressed denim, because it breaks up what would otherwise be a solid block of color.
I remember when my grandfather would see me wearing jeans with holes, he would ask me if I needed money to buy some new ones. I’m sure that I can’ t be the only one with that experience! But distressed denim isn’t the only thing they are selling in a somewhat-used-looking form. You can get distressed sweaters, jackets, hats – even sneakers that come out of the box looking a little dinged up. Perhaps we are obsessed with vintage vibes, or pining to incorporate “lived-in” pieces in our wardrobe. Paired with something sparkly and non-distressed, I think this trend totally still works!
Magnificent 8 Collaboration – Distressed Denim Edition
The Magnificent 8 is back, and we’re styling our own take on distressed clothing. We styled bathing suits in July, and it was such a success that we decided to make it a quarterly event.
The Magnificent 8 is a collaboration among 8 stylish women from every decade of life (teens all the way up to 80s!) showcasing our style one generation at a time. And I’m representing the 30-somethings! The mission of our collaboration is to show you just how ageless style is, how we can each dress however we’d like and in ways that make us feel fabulous. There are no age restrictions on style. So wear what you want, when you want, add a smile, and strut your style with confidence. And be sure to check out all 8 of these amazing gals! We will be sharing these posts on a quarterly basis…so be sure to check back in January for the third post in this series.
Head to the blogs below to see each stylish woman’s take on the distressed denim trend! My distressed jeans are pretty boring, but I’m sure everyone else has more creative takes.
Courtney of Sugar Coated Bears is representing teenagers.
Michelle of Michelle’s Pa(i)ge is representing the 20-somethings.
Roxanne of Glass of Glam is representing the 30-somethings.
Shelbee of Shelbee on the Edge is representing the 40-somethings.
Rena of Fine Whatever is representing the 50-somethings.
Cathe of Atypical 60 is representing the 60-somethings.
Nancy of Jodie’s Touch of Style is representing the 70-somethings.
And Charlotte of Jodie’s Touch of Style is representing the 80-somethings.
You certainly can’t put a number on style!

I love that your jeans are a totally cool color too, Roxanne!! I’m glad this was the theme for our group, because it really pushed us out of our comfort zone…but it was fun!

Roxanne, your distressed jeans are NOT boring! This outfit is adorable. Sassy, chic, edgy, and totally “you”! And those snakeskin booties! LOVE! Thanks for being part of this fun collaboration. I am excited to see what everyone else has styled! I went for distressed jeans, too, because they are the only distressed items I own.
