TGIF!!! And happy first official day of summer! It’s been a great week here in Chicago, with the weather bouncing back and forth and being back to my normal routine. I love traveling, but I also love being home and eating my food, doing my workouts, and cuddling with my kitties.
I have a TON of travel on my calendar for the rest of the summer. We’re going to Las Vegas in a couple of weeks, Boston, and New York City, three of my favorites cities ever! So I thought I would do a little DC outfits round-up of my recent trip to Washington, DC to give you a little bit of summer travel outfit inspiration. Some pics are grainy – I didn’t decide to do an outfit round-up until after I got home! But you can get the gist of my DC outfits. If you love travel outfit posts then let me know in the comments and I’ll make a point to take some better photos on my next trip!
DC Outfit Roundup Details:
My sizes: jeans -2 | top – US4 | jacket – small | wedges – tts (true to size)
This was the perfect travel outfit. I like to wear layers for the plane, and a jean jacket was the perfect top layer over my cute peplum top! These wedges are super comfy and I had no trouble walking around the airport in them! I know I won’t shut up about Old Navy Rockstar denim, but they are truly the comfiest. I always wear them when I travel because they don’t squish in weird places and give me enough room to feel comfortable sitting on a flight. If you don’t have a pair of rockstar denim yet, I highly recommend you give them a try!
My sizes: dress – 0 | sandals – tts
Dresses are a perfect option for the swampy DC heat! I wore this all day to go paddle boating, walking around the tidal basin, and out with friends. My exact dress is from Loft from last year, but I linked a bunch of similar options with cute lemon print. If you’re on the fence about the Gucci Soho Disco bag – let me clear that up for you. It is hands down my favorite bag of all time, as it fits so much stuff inside! I always take it with me on my travels because I am obsessed with it.
My sizes: dress – small | wedges – tts
I actually only wore this dress for a little bit! I threw it on before my friend Dani’s pool party as a fun and easy little swimsuit topper. When I bought it, I was afraid that it would look like a blob of fabric on me since it isn’t fitted, but it doesn’t look that way at all. I have a more muscular body, so the “flowy boho” trend doesn’t really flatter me. But this dress still managed to flatter my figure so well! I swiped on my current favorite red lip color (so affordable and pretty for summer) and it stayed on all afternoon. FYI my dress also comes in light blue but I just loved the summery yellow version.
My sizes: swimsuit – small | slides – tts
I got so much love in this swimsuit on Instagram! It was one of those impulse buys. I saw it online and decided that a. LaCroix is the bomb, so b.I needed a LaCroix swimsuit. My velvet slides were perfect for chillin’ at the pool. The slides are so cute and comfy and don’t get ruined when your feet are wet! They come in two other colors, too! And since I’m super extra I wear lipstick and earrings to the pool. #sorrynotsorry.
My sizes: dress – small | heels – tts
A night out for my dear friend Dani’s birthday required some fun flirty attire! I got this dress from Forever21 a couple of months ago, but never found the perfect occasion to wear it. I love the elongating vertical stripes and pencil silhouette! The exact red and white one I have is sold out, but it is available in blue and white, and in a similar version that I linked. My heels are a great Valentino rockstud dupe and come in a bunch of other colors! When we decided to hop to another bar that was a 10 minute walk away, everyone was bitching about how their feet hurt, but mine felt just fine! The block heel and caged style make them so comfortable, and the foot bed is padded pretty well. I love them so much that I am contemplating getting them in the light brown color, too.
My sizes: tank – small | jeans – 2 | sandals – tts
Aaaand now you know my go-to travel outfit! Jeans, a tank, and a sweater/jacket situation. Oh and no makeup because I like to let my face breathe at least one day on the weekend. My tank is from a company that makes DC-specific tanks, but my friend Caroline just opened an Etsy shop with the CUTEST tank styles! I absolutely love this one.
