Workwear Refresh With Trunk Club
I recently hit a workwear slump. I found myself resorting to the same black slacks and uninspiring color palette that we are all too familiar with when we hit an office attire rut. So I decided it was time to have a chat with my Trunk Club stylist Madison and order a Trunk to refresh my work wardrobe. I’m so excited to share the work outfits that I got! They’re fun, inspiring, professional, and help me feel confident!
What Is Trunk Club?
Trunk Club is a personal styling service for men and women through Nordstrom! It is perfect for anyone who is short on time, looking for guidance from a stylist, or if you’re interested in trying something new.
One thing that makes Trunk Club unique is that you can either visit a Trunk Club location to work with your stylist, or you can order a trunk to your home (like I did). The brick and mortar locations are in Boston, Chicago (HQ), Dallas, Los Angeles, New York City, and Washington, D.C.! I actually took Dan to the DC one a couple of years ago, and the pieces he got are still some of his favorites. Each Trunk Club clubhouse location has impeccable decor and a complimentary bar (hello champagne) which is such a nice touch. I haven’t been to the Chicago clubhouse yet, but it’s on my list!
How Does Trunk Club Work?
Since I ordered a trunk, I started by discussing what I was looking for with my stylist, Madison, via the chat feature on the Trunk Club app. After our chat, she expertly picked out pieces that would suit my needs. For my workwear trunk, I told her my sizes, that I was looking for fun colors and patterns, and petite sizes when available. I like versatility, so building desk-to-dinner outfits as well as pieces that work for the office and the weekend are my favorite. I’m always going to events after work, and I don’t like having to change to a more festive outfit since I’m usually sprinting out the office door.
Madison got back to me the next day with a beautiful trunk preview of 12 items. I gave her feedback on the preview, adjusting price points I was comfortable with, as well as some pieces I wanted to see. After one more trunk preview, I approved the trunk and she sent it to my doorstep in a cute box with a handle!
Once you try everything on, you keep what you love, and send the rest back at no charge. I ended up keeping most of the things in my trunk, which means it was most certainly a success!
How Is Trunk Club Different From Other Clothing Subscriptions?
The relationship that you have with your Trunk Club stylist is something truly unique. The access you have to your stylist to give feedback and chat makes the process enjoyable, rather than a random style gamble. Each Trunk Club stylist is specifically trained to decipher different office dress codes to help you build outfits that will make you feel confident and professional on the job. They also understand fit challenges associated with different body types and know what brands are right for you!
Since Trunk Club is a Nordstrom company, they carry a whole range of sizes, styles, and brands you’d expect to see at Nordstrom. Not only do they carry brands like Theory and Boss who are known for traditional business wear, but they also carry brands like Sam Edelman, Halogen, Topshop, and Rebecca Minkoff that are versatile and help you express yourself while still looking professional.
When it comes to size and fit, Trunk Club is the best. Exchanges for different sizes and/or colors is easy and free. If you have a Nordstrom card, you can get points for your purchases. Plus you can take the pieces you order to Nordstrom for alteration discounts, depending on what alterations you need. For instance, I took the sequin skirt to Nordstrom to raise the hem, and they waived the fee!
What’s more, there are no fees, and shipping is always free. Plus, you can decide when you want a trunk. Starting a new job? Need some clothes for a vacation? Just click “request a trunk” and you can have your Trunk Club personalized items to you within a week. Plus, the preview & approval step gives you control over what you’re purchasing.
This trunk certainly won’t be my last. I’m excited to work with Madison again, perhaps for a Spring wardrobe refresh!
