How I Decorate For Hanukkah
I admit – I’m not a big holiday decorator. Our condo isn’t filled with little nooks of holiday cheer; our decor is mostly in the living room. But I do what I can to make Hanukkah festive. We display our menorahs (we have two that we received for our wedding) in our home all year long, along with our other Judaica. The kiddish cup from our wedding day, shabbat candlesticks from our families, our seder plate, and other precious items that remind us of our heritage are always around us.
Considering it is the festival of light, my decor Hanukkah home decor collection started out pretty lean. The only decorations we had previously were the “Happy Hanukkah” sign from when we first moved in together in Law School. We also had Dan’s electric menorah from his childhood, which has been with us since college.
But this year, since we are in a new place, I took to Amazon to help beef up my Hanukkah home decor game! To add to our collection, I put some shiny dangly pieces over the window and menorah string lights on the mantle. My parents gifted us with a gorgeous blue and white tablecloth, which I could easily use all year long. I wanted to display the blue and silver garland, but Jake and Elwood kept trying to eat it and we all know how that could go down. So, alas, the garland stays hidden.
Even though Hanukkah is officially over, I’m keeping my decorations up until the end of December. I’m pretty sure my cats are thrilled to be surrounded by shiny dangly decorations. Which brings me to ask – how do Christmas trees and cats coexist? Please explain it to me, haha.

I am so glad you got all festive this year at your new condo in Chicago. I always love white+blue together so I am loving the decorations. I have actually done several white+blue trees before. To me those colors represent both Hannukah and Winter, which means they are perfect for XMas too. This year there are many white and blue balls and other ornaments in my platters, trays and such.
Your home looks beautiful as do you. In love with that awesome Modcloth skirt and how you styled it. Such a cute beanie too.
So glad you were a part of the Holiday Home Tour, Roxanne. Would love for you to check my post below, too.
