What A Crazy Weekend!
We strapped Sidney in her car seat and went everywhere this weekend! Out to lunch, on a short trip to Milwaukee, and to Woodfield Mall for a fun project. Going places with Sidney is never boring, especially as she gets older and wants to be part of the action.
I’m looking forward to laying low this week and staying home as much as possible. I’m going to burn this candle down to the nubbin, read Sidney’s favorite book to her a bazillion times, and decorate our place for Chanukah. And in between naps, I’ll cram as much work in as possible. That’s what my days look like now. Now that I’m a mom and blogger full time, my days are full, but a really fulfilling kind of full.
My Mom Wardrobe Essentials
Since I’m not going to the office anymore, my wardrobe has changed slightly. But don’t worry – I’m still me! I still like to get up and get dressed in the morning, but I prefer casual and comfortable clothing. Like leggings and a sweater, or jeans and a nursing-friendly top. Sometimes I share my simple makeup looks on my Instagram stories, so be sure to check those out if you’re interested!
These velvet leggings are a new “mom wardrobe” favorite , because they suck in my tummy but still let me crawl around on the floor with my little one. I wear them at least once a week. Probably more than is socially appropriate, haha. When I do take Sidney out of the house, I like to reach for a fun coat to spruce up my cozy basics (here are some coats I LOVE right now), and a warm bootie. These are SO comfortable right out of the box and they come in 2 colors!
Getting dressed makes me feel like myself, and gets me in the habit of doing something good for myself every day. For awhile I was lounging in my pjs all day and forgetting to brush my teeth! That made me feel gross and kind of sad, but at the same time I was doing everything to put my daughter first. Once I made a point to give myself five minutes to feel put together, I was in a better mood for myself, and as a result, for Sidney too. I’m not sure if she can tell the difference in me, but I know in my heart that the best mom is a happy mom.

Roxanne, these photos are adorable! I love your cute and cozy mom outfit. When I made the transition from working girl to stay at home mom, I vowed never to become that person who sat in jammies all day! And I have stuck to it pretty religiously. I have to get up and put myself together to feel functional and I have been doing that since the day my first child was born! Although this weekend, I stayed in jammies the whole time. But that’s only because I am in a total holiday funk right now. Boo. Anyway, you are rocking this mom thing, my friend! Keep up the good work.

What fun photos Roxanne and seriously a cute look! You make motherhood look glam. 🙂 I can relate though. To be honest, when I worked in the office, I didn’t dress up at all. After all, lab coats and chemicals just don’t mix with dressed up looks and then when I became a mama, I got worse and stuck myself to PJs and it also made me sad. So I started dressing up a bit more slowly too and it was a life saver. I felt better too. Btw, sorry I missed the news but congratulations on being a FT blogger. You are doing great! Wishing you a fabulous week ahead!
