I’ll open with a truth: this mama misses her cocktails! It’s certainly not the alcohol part, though. In reality, it is super nice to wake up without a wine headache, or not have the temptation of endless cocktails at events that will inevitably give me a tummy ache. Although some women choose to have a drink or two during their pregnancy, I decided to quit cold turkey. Here’s a funny post I wrote back in the day about my thoughts on dry January, haha! Admittedly, I still feel kind of the same, although pregnancy is a totally different situation.
I miss cocktails because I have a fear of missing out. I don’t want to miss being invited to a wine tasting, or feel like I’m not enjoying a delicious cocktail while everyone else is. But having a cute mocktail in my hand makes me feel like I’m still imbibing in the fun!
So here are some delicious and easy mocktail recipes that I’ve been loving the past 6 months. I’m not a very complicated person in the kitchen, so I included ingredients you are most likely to have at home. For the ingredients that are a little bit more exotic, they aren’t so rare that you wouldn’t be able to find them at your local grocery store.
Four Easy Mocktail Recipes
Paloma-ma
For my entire pregnancy I’ve been really loving fruit. This fruity and refreshing alcohol-free paloma is pretty and delicious! I used one of my grandmother’s vintage depression-glass champagne glasses to make it fancy.
- lemon-lime soda (you can also use sparkling water)
- grapefruit juice
- lime squeeze
- grapefruit slice (for garnish)
Tequila-less Sunrise
This one is SO pretty! If you make it for your girlfriends, they’ll love the instagrammable colors when you first pour it. It would be a hit with the kids, too.
- orange-pineapple juice (I used orange pineapple banana juice from Whole Foods because it looked amazing at the store)
- dash of grenadine
- ginger beer (or sparkling water)
- orange slice (for garnish)
- ice
Virgin Moscow Mule
One of my favorite summer drinks! This one is so easy so I make it all the time at home.
- ginger beer (Barritts is my favorite)
- lime squeeze
- ice
- lime slices (for garnish)
Cape Cod Refresher
Most bartenders know what a cape cod is, so this easy mocktail is one I like to get when I’m out with friends.
- lemon-lime soda (I used 7up) or sparkling water
- cranberry juice
- squeeze of lime
- ice
- lime wedge for garnish
See, I promised these easy mocktail recipes would be simple! Citrusy, refreshing, and perfect for summer entertaining! Don’t forget to have fun with it! Slice your fruits into different shapes, pick out some fun paper straws, and bust out your crystal. And if you do decide to make one, tag me (@glassofglam) in your Instagram stories!
If you’re still imbibing – go ahead and add your alcohol of choice in there. And check out this ancient post to make my absolute favorite summer drink that, sadly, can’t be made non-alcoholic.
