About a month ago I declared myself a mascara expert. I was going for a walk around the block to grab a HUGE iced coffee (okay fine I was procrastinating working) when I suddenly realized that I have never written a post dedicated to mascara. Shame on me!
I feel like that happens with blog post writing, though. I’m always trying to come up with good and juicy topics that I think you guys will want to read. Inevitably, I skip over the simple pleasures in life, like the lash-lengthening, eye-opening, bombshell-creating liquid that is mascara.
So here are eight of my favorites on both ends of the cost spectrum. Splurge or save as you wish!
Drugstore Mascara Favorites:
Yes, you can find incredible mascaras at the drug store! I love to recommend Lash Paradise to all my friends, because it is an incredible dupe for Too Faced Better Than Sex, at a fraction of the price! Maybelline’s Colossal Mascara (in the iconic yellow tube) is an oldie but a goodie! Total Temptation contains coconut oil, which does a great job of conditioning your lashes. It even smells a bit like coconut! Another classic is L’Oreal Voluminous, which does exactly what it says it should – volumizes!
I have purchased and re-purchased all four of these mascaras, and would absolutely recommend them to anyone!
High End Mascara Favorites:
I like fancy high end mascara, okay? There’s just nothing that compares to the extreme, eye opening effect of Monsieur Big. It gives you INSANE volume, zero flaking, and dramatic length. It is my absolute favorite and my other beauty blogger friends like to commiserate and geek out over how much we love Lancôme’s Monsieur Big.
A close second high end mascara is Bobbi Brown’s Eye Opening Mascara, which is the current tube I am using. I’ve gotten a lot of compliments on my lashes lately (it could be due to my Lashboost regimen/obsession) but I attribute it to this hard-working mascara. It curls your lashes and holds the curl all day.
Better Than Sex is a cult favorite, and the uniquely-shaped hourglass wand lets you coat every little lash. It doesn’t hurt that the tube is pink and the name is so ridiculously cute. Finally, I can’t neglect DiorShow. At a whopping 30 dollars, it is no joke. But my make-up artist friends keep going back to it time and time again. It doesn’t dry out like other mascaras do, letting you use it for a lot longer. And the densely-packed bristles thicken your lashes like no other.
So, did I cover your favorite high end mascara? There are so many good one’s out there, but I have to admit it was easy to narrow it down to my favorites. Happy Friday, everyone!
