Velvet is probably my favorite of all the fall trends. Not just any velvet, but the crushed variety. It like that is a throwback to the 90’s. I remember I had a burgundy cocktail-type dress when I was 14. I should have kept that darn thing, because, HECK, the trend is back!

They always joke, like, *waves finger in the air* you should keep all your crap because one day it will come back in style! Well, how long are we supposed to keep said crap? Fifteen years!? I just don’t have that type of space in my closet. Old trends do come back, I agree, but with a fresh and rejuvenated flair.
What is crushed velvet, you ask? Visually, it has kind of an iridescent quality, with a little more texture than regular velvet. Wrinkled might be another word for it. I believe they make the crushed variety by flattening the pile of the fabric in different directions. Kind of like parting your hair.
I was on the hunt for some awesome velvet pieces, and found this pink cami. I liked it because it isn’t in your face, like a full velvet dress. I certainly wanted to try out the trend, but not with the full-on commitment.
I mixed my pink top with classics; faux leather and camel accessories. Did I mention that mules are in this season, too? (I also love these.) In case you missed it, here is a post with some of my other fall faves.
While I love all the velvet, I’m especially drawn to the crushed, lighter colors. I think they are softer and have an exciting dimension. But the rich, dark colors are just as interesting. I imagine this deep red velvet cami would be killer with a white blazer. Or this royal blue top with white pants and a fabulous statement necklace.
I hope you enjoy this outfit as much as I do! Have a spiffy week! Here’s to a full week of fab outfits – don’t skimp on me!

I have always loved velvet. Actually that is my most favorite thing IN for this Fall and cannot wait to rock it. Crushed velvet even better. I used to own a crushed velvet camisole like yours, in burgundy and wish I had it now. Love the extras here: the mules, moto jacket, ear jackets and Gucci bag are all wonderful!
