Happy Monday!
The theme of this weekend was walking. We walked so much that my feet are sore. Chicago had a burst of gorgeous weather, so we tried to be out and about as much as possible.
We took our new jogging stroller for a spin, walked to get swirl ice cream cones, and had a socially distant picnic in the park with Sidney’s aunt and uncle. I’m pretty sure Jake and Elwood were wondering why we were gone so much. We’re making up for it now by watching the Harry Potter Marathon and petting to their delight.
I joke that my main source of hydration has been the giant watermelon we cut up and have been munching on constantly. Watermelon is the epitome of summer to me! It’s a good thing Sidney likes watermelon, too. It’s fun to have a little foodie around to share with!
Pre-pregnancy Lavender Tie Waist Pants
I got sick of my leggings and jeans for our walks, so I pulled out my lavender tie waist pants that I last styled here, way before Sidney came along. I kept them when I purged my closet after giving birth because I couldn’t give them up just yet. This weekend I had a random burst of confidence and thought, “what the heck, I’ll just try them on and see.” I gotta say I was shocked that they fit.
Sidney is 9.5 months old now, and the whole concept of “bouncing back” has not been my experience. I’m not one of those moms who can fit back into their jeans two weeks after giving birth. My body is definitely different than it was, and I’m not putting pressure on myself to get back to a certain number or size. I do my best to eat healthy and move my body, which at the moment means jumping around like a lunatic to workout video in our living room while Sidney naps, inhaling a cup of broccoli as if it is a vitamin my body needs, and taking long walks around the neighborhood with the stroller. It has been a slow process for me, and I’m just now starting to feel like myself again. But bouncing back is not a real thing. Taking care of yourself so you can be happy and take take of your baby IS a real thing.
My pants might look a little different than they did back in August of 2018, but they’re still comfortable, cute, and make me happy. I love the tie waist style so much that I’m thinking of getting this sporty pair, next!

Yay! Doing the happy dance for you! You are looking great! I love the lavender color of this pants – so summery and gorgeous. I didn’t bounce back to my pre-pregnancy bod either. Up to now, I still got my baby pouch. Sure it’s smaller but it’s looking like it’s here to stay! And the thing about having a ruler shape for a body is every bulge shows up! I hope you are well and happy Wednesday!
