Suede, Flannel and a Coconut Milk Rant

in Fall outfits, Style on 12/08/16

I’ve been sitting on this outfit since, well…since Starbucks had green cups. I figured I better post this adorable suede skirt before it gets too cold to wear it!

Also, let’s complain about Starbucks for a minute. I promise it’ll be fun.

So, Starbucks. My order of choice is some sort of latte. Typically just a regular, or if I’m feeling bold I’ll go for the seasonal flavor. I always get the real syrup, because who knows what kind of junk is in the sugar free.

I used to always get soy milk, then I read that soy wasn’t too good for you and I switched to whole milk. It didn’t make me feel great, but a latte every once in a while wasn’t going to kill me.

THEN in comes the coconut milk! My usual milk-free self was ecstatic! But don’t get too excited. It turns out the coconut milk is basically radioactive. With ingredients like carrageenan, a preservative that is known to cause gut inflammation and is a possible carcinogen. Extra sugar, and totally watered down. Starbucks, you tried and you blew it!

I realize I’m holding a Starbucks cup in all these photos. I’m a hypocrite. Sometimes we opt to destroy ourselves for the sake of our taste buds.

Okay rant over. Starbucks is still delicious. Most of the time, you’ll find me at local coffee shops that use delicious carrageenan-free almond milk!

I realize this outfit is more fall than winter. Especially if you live on the east coast or midwest. BUT a suede skirt is a fun and retro closet staple. I’d wear this same exact outfit with tights in a heartbeat (my favorite are Express!) Maybe some cute OTK boots, like in this cozy outfit! (I love these for under $50!)

When I hear stories like this I’m so thankful I am not a coffee/latte/tea/anything drinker ha! My sister made me try the “pink drink” and I’m not in a hurry to go back lol But this outfit is cute! I never would’ve thought to pair the top and skirt together!
