I saw this dress on ASOS (actually pronounced A-sauce! Who knew!?) and it was love at first sight. It reminds me of champagne bubbles dispersing, because the dots are more concentrated at the bottom and wrists. The dots are delicate, rather than clunky and in your face. Sheer sleeves are perfect for the transitioning weather.
This post is titled “Champagne Shirley Temple” because the drink reminds me of this outfit. A Champagne Shirley is made with sparkling wine and grenadine (among other things) which gives the beverage a red tint. Bubbly dress + red lips and shoes, hence the Champagne Shirley. My grandparents used to order me a Shirley Temple when we went out for special occasions (with sprite, of course) when I was little, so it has a sentimental place in my heart.
Most of my recent looks have been casual. I really enjoy posting outfits that I actually wear or plan to wear soon, and I have not had any reason to get dolled up. I think this was my last fancy outfit post and that was a while ago now. This date night post doesn’t count because it was an April Fool’s joke.
We went on a date night last weekend to Doi Moi, a Southeast Asian restaurant in our neighborhood. And I, of course, was thrilled to get all dressed up and put on some lipstick and killer heels! So I’ve just been waiting for the perfect dress-pertunity. That’s opportunity to wear a sweet dress. It is a shift, so I can eat all the delicious food and still feel svelte.
Doi Moi turned out to be really good. We ordered two noodle dishes and an appetizer that they call beef jerky. And cocktails. I ordered a drink called the Zombie – rum, pineapple, passion fruit, lemon, and lime. It came in a really cute mermaid glass, which made it taste even better.
Don’t you just love an excuse to dress up?
