On Sunday of my birthday weekend, Dan and I headed to Georgetown for a terrific lady day.
Fringe Sweater; Madewell Denim (my fave!), similar wash; OTK boots; Sunnies (via Ditto); Crossbody Bag is Longchamp and discontinued. Nordstrom has this one and this one which are kind of similar. You can also try looking on Ebay or Tradesy.
We had lunch at our favorite bahn mi spot, Simply Bahn Mi which has the most amazing Bahn Mi sandwiches and Pho soup. If you are in DC and happen to find yourself in Georgetown, you gotta go.
We headed over to Lush and picked up some more bath bombs. I got the Butterball and and Unicorn Horn bubble bar, and Dan got the Guardian of the Forest and the Intergalactic. My typical go-to’s are the Yoga Bomb and the French Kiss, but I decided to try some new ones this time. If you like taking baths and you have not tried Lush’s bath bombs, go get you some! They smell so good and leave your skin feeling really soft. Also, Lush hand makes all their items and they never test on animals.
Then we got some birthday cupcakes from Baked & Wired. Because ya gotta.
And Dan got me a new iPhone! Eeeeep! I’m so excited to take some higher quality photos!
And on to the outfit. Now that I’m 28, I am realizing that I don’t follow or adopt a fashion trend as my own just for the sake of following a trend. I wear something just because I like it. Maybe that’s why it took my so long to jump on the over the knee boot train. I had this feeling that over the knee boots would make my 5’1″ self look shorter.
So instead of spending over $800 on the Stuart Weitzman Lowland Boots (which are beautiful, but too much), I decided to find a dupe. These boots are under $40 and wouldn’t make me cry if the trend didn’t suit me.
But I really like them! They are interesting and fun, and I don’t think they make me look short at all. They are super comfortable, too. I’m really excited to wear these with a dress because they will keep my legs warm! I kept it simple and rounded out the outfit with this fringe sweater and my favorite denim. I’m really loving all things fringe right now, too.
Have you embraced the over the knee (aka “OTK”) trend? I’m sold!
