Belt It: An Inexpensive Way to Add Versatility to Your Wardrobe

in Style, winter outfits on 01/28/16

I haven’t been able to get any good outfit shots for awhile because a)snow storm and b)storm of snow. I’ve been wearing this soft and cozy swing tee from Old Navy around the house. Whenever I get a new piece that I really enjoy, I tend to wear it like every day all the time.

Outfit Details:

  • Old Navy Swing Tee (on sale for $10! Also comes in gray, blue, red, and teal)
  • JCrew Minnie Pant (similar here and here)
  • Old Belt, similar and similar
  • Nude Pumps
  • Kitty Mug

While doing this photo shoot, the bells of the National Cathedral were ringing! I wonder what was going on. The Cathedral is North West of us, and on a clear day you can see it from the rooftop. If you haven’t been the the National Cathedral, the outside looks like the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. It is worth a visit!

Since I’m still loving the pink and blue combo (check out why in this post), I wore my pink tee with my blue JCrew Minnie Pants. I don’t think they come in this color at the moment, but they tend to change colors often.  If you are in the market for some fun, colorful pants, JCrew Factory has the similar Winnie Pant and Old Navy has the Pixie. I have pairs of all three and like them equally.

I like belting flowy shirts and dresses to change the structure of the piece. It helps to define your waist and gives it a peplum-feel. It is also an inexpensive way to add versatility to your closet. A gold belt goes with pretty much anything, so it is worth the investment. This one from Forever 21 is under $6, so it won’t break the bank if you want to try it out.

I brought my kitty mug with me to sip on a hot beverage so I wouldn’t freeze…as much. It looks like my gray cat Elwood. He and his brother are turning three in February! I might cry.

Have you tried the belted look? Try it out, you have nothing to lose!
