Apple Picking in Wisconsin
Apple Picking At Wisconsin’s Apple Holler
Instead of driving down to Indiana like we did last year (Sidney was so tiny!) and the year before, we went north to pick apples in Wisconsin. Although it sounds far, Wisconsin is only an hour from Chicago. And the Apple Holler Farm is right across the border. We feel lucky to have so many places to explore within driving distance of the city. A quick drive north to get out of the city and tap into our inner farmers is exactly what we needed.
Apple Picking So Early?
Typically October is the season for apples and pumpkins and most of the fall cheer. Heck – fall weather has slowly been creeping into our lives, but it hasn’t quite committed yet. It still pretty much feels like summer. However, the Jewish New Year was this past weekend. It is tradition to celebrate with apples and honey, which symbolize a sweet new year. So we typically try to go apple picking before Rosh Hashanah.
If you’re a fan of the Honey Crisp apple variety, then you need to get yourself to the orchard this month! Honey Crisp is my personal favorite, and they’re only around during September. By the time October rolls around and everyone else feels like apple picking, they are already gone.
A Little Girl and Her Apple
Sidney picked her own apple off the tree and was obsessed with it for the rest of the day. She carried it around with her, and held it the whole car ride home. We couldn’t even get a pic of her looking because she couldn’t stop examining it! It’s pretty cute, though. Although she probably won’t remember, I have all the photos and the memories to remind her of her young love for this fruit!
After picking apples in the orchard, we naturally ended our day at the bakery. We picked up some apple cider, donuts, and apple fritters. Sidney really enjoyed her taste of yummy apple cider donut.
I can’t believe Sidney will be walking and running around when we come back to pick apples next year. It feels like yesterday when she was just a month old and we went to County Line Orchard in Indiana. But I can’t wait for next year!

Oh my cuteness! Sidney is growing up right before my eyes and man, she’s so adorable. I love the story of her and her apple. That’s so cute. You know I haven’t had apple cider, I am missing out, right?! It looks so yummy! I know it is on my to-do list.

These photos are so cute! And apple picking looks like a blast. I’ve actually seen several apple picking posts in the last two days alone, so I decided to do a little research on apple picking in my own area this season… Sadly, most places aren’t allowing picking your own apples due to covid! Super disappointing, so I guess I’ll just have to wait for next year. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed your holiday!

Oh that’s so lovely! Apple picking is something we don’t do around here. Such a pity.
