I’ve been talking a lot about skincare lately, but not enough about makeup and hair. The truth is, I LOVE all things beauty. Makeup, hair, fragrance…it all makes my heart patter.
When I was in college, I would spend so much time watching beauty Youtubers. Store hauls showing us what they purchased, monthly favorites, and tutorials on how to curl your hair or how to achieve the perfect winged eyeliner. My favorite videos were the ones where they would go through their monthly favorite products.
I always found these types of roundups to be the most legit, because out of ALL the amazing products they got to try, those were the ones they narrowed it down to. Just 5-10 ride or die favorites. Since I love favorites so much, here are my recent Ulta favorites!
My 6 Recent Ulta Favorites
Body Blur HD Skin Finish.
I used this magical product on my arms and legs for my holiday shoots, and WOW does it make a difference. Living in Chicago makes me pale. Plus now that I’m older, I don’t sit in the sun like I used to over the summer, so I have no “base tan” to speak of. I rub a teensy bit of body blur on my arms and legs, and it makes me look much more toned and confident! I highly recommend it if you have a photo shoot or wedding coming up. It’s much cheaper and faster than a spray tan, too.
Dual Voltage Beachwaver.
I always talk about this curling iron on my Instagram stories. It is the one I brought with me to England, and I swear I had perfect hair for the entire 10 days I was there. Dual voltage is ideal because you can use the hair tool home and abroad, without frying it when you arrive at your higher voltage supply destination. For instance, the UK operates on 240 volts, while the US is on 110 volts.
Anyhow, the beauty of the Beachwaver is that it is designed to allow girls who are “curling iron challenged” to curl their hair! Use the clamp at the end of a section of hair, then press a button to twirl your hair around the wand. It is easy, foolproof, and results in the perfect beachy waves every single time. Here’s a cute video of all the Vicoria’s Secret angel’s reactions to using the Beachwaver for the first time..
NYX Eyebrow Pencil.
This pencil is a great dupe for the Anastasia Beverly Hills eyebrow pencil. It has a spooly on one side, and a really fine twist-up pencil on the other end. I use mine every time I do my makeup and love the results.
Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Polish in Petal Pusher.
I picked up this polish on a whim, and it is all I want to wear on my toes lately! It’s the perfect light pink that looks so classy and clean. The brush is wider than most polishes, making it easy to apply in a couple easy swoops. The fast dry formula is a life saver, especially because I don’t last very long without socks in this cold weather. Plus I’m a klutz always bumping into things, so I don’t have to sit for an hour and wait for my polish to dry.
L’Oreal Lash Paradise Mascara.
I mentioned in my drugstore + high end mascara favorites post that this is one of my favorite mascaras of all time. Lately I was on a high end mascara kick, but felt unsatisfied. I went to Ulta to pick this one up, and I almost forgot how amazing it is. Volumzing, doesn’t flake, and looks killer when you layer it. If you like Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara, but you’re sick of paying $23 for it, then you need this in your life.
NYX Suede Lip Creme in Kitten Heels.
I wear this liquid lipstick for SO many shoots that I had to go pick up another tube. It is the perfect matte orangey red that really makes your face pop in photos! It applies like a dream and withstands the test of longevity. I’ve wanted to try other colors in the NYX liquid suede lipstick line, but none of them are appealing to me. I wish NYX would release more wearable shades, because this formula is on point.
