I absolutely love living in downtown Washington, D.C. We recently sold our car because we are so dedicated to city living. We didn’t use our car that much. Plus, the parking fees at our apartment are astronomical, not to mention maintenance costs, insurance, etc. Adulting is fun.
While selling our car was a liberating experience, there are times where even a die-hard city dweller needs a vehicle. Taking my precious Elwood to the vet was one of those instances.

I know that Uber and taxis and borrowing cars exist, but sometimes I like to come and go on my own time. I like to drive my own route and be independent. So when Enterprise CarShare invited me to try their car sharing program, I knew it was something that would absolutely have a place in my life. I have never used a car share before and I’m super impressed!
The whole reservation process was so easy. First I applied for a membership online. When I received my membership card in the mail a few days later, I downloaded the app on my phone and searched for cars in my area. There were lots of vehicles to choose from within .3 miles of our apartment. I was able to reserve a car on the app for the time slot I needed.
On the Monday morning of the vet appointment I quickly located the car parked on the street. It was easy to find because it was marked on the side with “Enterprise CarShare”. I used my membership card to unlock the car and drove off to pick up Dan and Elwood. Easy Peasy.
The pet-friendly policy is important to me. I am an avid pet lover and know that many of you are, too. As long as your pet is crated and secure at all times, you are allowed to take him/her with you. You obviously can’t muck up the car with pet hair either. Thank goodness for the lenient pet policy, because I really needed a car to take Elwood to his appointment.
I think Elwood enjoyed the ride. I felt much more comfortable driving him myself than asking some Uber driver to take me and my meowing feline to the vet.
The CarShare experience was ultimately seamless and easily fit into my routine. While I’m happy that I am not burdened by my own vehicle, it feels good to know that there is a reliable option. I will definitely be using Enterprise CarShare again for random necessities (like when I want to go to Ikea and buy all the things, let’s be real) and definitely for some day trips. Perhaps to the pumpkin patch this month!
HAVE YOU USED A CAR SHARE BEFORE? WHAT DID YOU THINK? I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR!
Thank you Enterprise Car Share for sponsoring this post. All photographs and opinions are my own.

Oh what a great service. They don’t use these much in Michigan as everyone here drives but that is what I miss about a great city down-town living. Love your chic, elegant uptown outfit for the trip to the vet. I need those burgundy loafers by Old Navy so chic.

I love car shares!! For the occasional drive it’s perfect and convenient… I love that you don’t have to go sign a million car rental forms and you can just unlock the car with your card and drive. It’s basically as convenient as having your own car, and you don’t have to deal with any maintenance, parking etc! Cool that Enterprise is in on the car-sharing business now, too, I didn’t know that

It was so easy! Yeah, once I applied and got the card it was so nice to not have to deal with any paperwork. The parking spot was so clutch!
