I got some cute new frames! You won’t even believe how inexpensive they were!
I have been wearing glasses since about 3rd grade. I remember that I was doing the wrong math problems for homework because I wrote them down incorrectly in my planner. After getting a poor grade in math that year (I’m still mad about that) my mom though that I should probably get my eyes checked. Ever since then I’ve had glasses and contacts. Can’t see a darn thing without them!

Traditionally, prescription frames are super expensive. I had one pair growing up (until my prescription changed, of course) because the expense was prohibitive. I remember when my mom used to take me to Lenscrafters and we would blow $200 plus on a pair of glasses. Those days are over!
My new glasses are the Walden frame in ebony from Optically (also available at Optically in Canada, my friends!) AND they only cost $37 for the frame! You can upgrade the frames so they are glare and scratch resistant, but it isn’t that much more expensive. My frames are sturdy and almost look like wood, but with a gorgeous mahogany look. I chose them because I thought the color was unique and I like the way the square frames look on my face shape.
Optically has over 3000 frames to choose from, which was a little overwhelming at first. I admit that I was on their website searching for awhile. They have budget frames starting at $9, fancier designer frames, and prescription sunglasses, too. I love that you can get a pair of frames at a reasonable cost. I have more than one pair of glasses, because with such a low cost it is worth it. To me it is like changing your earrings or handbag. Accessories are my jam so why not categorize your glasses as an accessory too?

The whole process on Optically.com is SO EASY. You pick your frames online, which Optically makes fun and easy with a “try on” feature. This feature allows you to upload a photo of yourself and the website places the glasses on your face so you can see whether the frame would fit. Once you have decided on the frame (that’s always the hardest part for me) you choose the type of lenses, and a tint if you’re interested. I typically upgrade the lenses so they are glare and scratch free, and I kept them un-tinted.
Finally you enter your prescription or you can upload a photo of it. Your glasses will come in the mail! I uploaded my prescription and a representative contacted me to send a clearer version, because they wanted to make sure that they had it correctly. I always appreciate good customer service, especially when it comes to my ability to SEE!
With a reading and computer-intensive job, I’ve been wearing my glasses more and more. When I wear my contacts too much, my eyes become strained and they turn all red and we all know that’s not pretty! I figured that with so many cute frames out there, I might as well pick a pair that is trendy and that I really love wearing! Wearing glasses is fun and can add a totally different vibe to your outfit. My husband has two pairs depending on his mood, and I also have multiple pairs!

Those glasses are so cute Roxanne! I have the same problem you describe, working with computers all day and my eyes feeling tired when I wear contacts. I wear my glasses 99% of the time, except for when I want to wear sunnies 😉 Not 100% sold on the online purchase of glasses, but I do appreciate the convenience and if the customer service is good, you have access to much more variety. Your new glasses are so cute! I love that there are affordable options out there now, makes it easier to own multiple pairs. I started to need glasses a couple of years ago, mostly for working on the computer and driving, but I would love to be able to mix it up, instead of just wearing the same pair all of the time!
