Everyone I meet here in Chicago keeps telling me “just wait until summer. Chicago is the center of the world when when the weather gets nice.”

Since we got here in October, the only Chicago we’ve known has been cold and kind of dreary. I often wonder “where is everyone? But every cab driver, friend, acquaintance, and waiter has admitted that all life comes out of hibernation as soon as the weather breaks. I’ve been seeing bits and pieces of the city coming back to life already: restaurants have started putting together their patios, more people are walking to work, and the lattes are switching from hot to iced. I just can’t wait for it to get in full swing!
So here are five things that I’m looking forward to doing when I can finally ditch my parka and bare my toes!
SPRING IN CHICAGO
1.An Architectural Boat Tour
It might seem cheesy, but cruising down the river and hearing about the histories of the buildings I walk by daily sounds like SO much fun. For my birthday (in January) my mom bought me tickets to do this, and I can’t wait to finally use them! I might even grab Michelle (my photographer) and have a little photoshoot session on tour!
2.Dining al Fresco
Eating or drinking outside and people watching is one of my favorite things to do. I makes me feel like I’m back in Rome or Paris without a care in the world.
3.Rooftops
Rooftop season is totally a thing here in Chicago! The better the view, the better the bar! Michelle and I these photos at Café Robey in Wicker Park, which has a fabulous rooftop because the skyline view is unmatched. I can’t wait to go back.
4.Walking to Work/Everywhere
Although it saves me basically no time to take public transportation (it takes 25 minutes to walk and approximately 20 to take the bus) I can’t bear to scrunch myself up and walk in the cold. I love walking because I pass places I wouldn’t see otherwise notice (see my tip from this post).
And, importantly, getting my steps in for the day is a big priority. I’m an avid Fitbit wearer and I set my goal high at 14K steps a day, because I can’t get it naturally without trying a bit. I have the Alta and I love it, but I replaced the band with this one because I’m fancy. Walking everywhere makes it so much easier to get my steps and it makes me feel so accomplished. So rather than pacing around the office or having to hop on the treadmill to reach my goal, I can get it naturally!
5.Last but not least, SPRING CLOTHING
So, funny story: Dan and I are going on a date night on Thursday and he said to me “are you excited for Duck Duck Goat?” and I said “yeah…but I’m honestly more excited about picking an outfit for date night.” But LADIES ain’t that THE TRUTH!?
Anyway, don’t get me wrong, I’m happy that my beloved sweaters got a last run for their money. But I have so many pretty skirts and dresses that are just begging to be worn. Floral prints, basket bags (I just got this cutie), espadrilles – basically everything in this outfit screams spring/summer. I even created a playlist on my Spotify titled “SUMMER CAN’T COME SOON ENOUGH!” When I listen to it I imagine myself wearing this outfit with a glass of rosé in hand and twirling on a rooftop somewhere. *Sigh*.
What are you most looking forward to this spring/summer? Have you ever spent Spring in Chicago?

I like the green look… it reflects a person who is down to earth and can materialize things into her life easier than other people… plus, it shows a person who is determined and highly organized… cheers!

Love the colours in your skirt! So perfectly springy! I had such a great time visiting your city this past fall, I can only imagine how much fun it is when you’re not always looking for a hot drink after only being outside for a few minutes 🙂 Can’t wait to follow along and see what adventures you get up to this year! xx Rox-Anne Celebrating This Life

Sounds exactly like Boston. Everyone hibernates during the colder months, and then when it’s warm it seems the city’s population has tripled in size. This is the most perfect Spring look, your skirt is gorgeous!

I’m right there with you about picking out my outfit when we go out!! I mean, heck—that’s why we go out, right??
And you should try the food tour there too!! It was a mix of architecture, history and of course food—it ended at the pizza place which was heaven to Rob!!!
XOXO
