This weekend was super fun. For her birthday, my friend Alex rented out a private party room in a Chicago hotel with an indoor hot tub, private bar tender, and naturally, shot skis. I may or may not have taken one too many. The bar is called The Bunny Slope! We spent Saturday visiting family and my little nephews, and Sunday we saw Black Panther and shopped for groceries. Black Panther was amazing and you need to see it when you get a chance! There were a lot of strong and smart women in it, which I absolutely loved.
So one of the things I love about being a style blogger is getting the chance to push the boundaries and inspire others to try new color and texture combinations. When I’m putting together my outfits. I always start with the “hero” piece, or the one item that I know I want to wear. For this look, it was surprisingly not the insanely gorgeous burgundy faux fur jacket. It was the velvet skirt!
So I started with this velvet skirt, and knew I wanted to add some color to the mix. The teal velvet skirt and mustard yellow top (which is only $15 btw) looked beautiful together, but somehow made it seem like I was going out to root for Michigan football, haha. My faux fur jacket added the richness and dimension that I wanted, is what really makes the other colors in my outfit pop!
I finished the primary colors outfit with my white booties, which are the perfect shape for elongating your legs. I linked a less expensive version above, too. And Sam Edelman just came out with this gorgeous mule version for spring. If you have short legs like me and tush, choose a bootie or a shoe with 1) a pointed toe and 2) a lighter color. I got that tip from my stylist friend, Marisa (she’s Cloverriot on instagram), who always gives amazing style tips! For some outfit inspiration, I last wore my white booties here, here, and here.
Don’t forget to enter the giveaway for one of my favorite multi-purpose products! The giveaway runs until March 14 and entering is easy!

My favorite look from last week was Jess from Not Jess Fashion!
Jess’s look is from one of her London Fashion Week recaps. I love that Jess looks fabulous even in sneakers! Jess is a jetsetter who always puts together colorful and stunning outfits, and her photography is insanely gorgeous. And even though she has boatloads of followers, she is such a nice person! She always takes time to comment on my little piece of the internet, despite her business and fame.
Nice and perfect looking outfit.
This is a nice outfit to face the day. Of course by it’s colors it is a head turner. You look gorgeous.

That’s such a huge compliment coming from you, Sheela! Thanks so much!
Love your combo of textures, colors, and style! I’m also glad to hear you liked Black Panther. It was a great film that combined history, culture, and race in a superhero movie–very impressive.
What an adorable look dear! I really love this color blocking trend right now, really brings the beautiful outfits together. Love the lace up details on your yellow blouse too, really cute touch.

I just love the richness of these colors together. It really made me feel warmer temps just by looking at the pictures. Also, I am crushing on those white booties. Though I am ready to say goodbye to booties, I am thinking a must have for next winter. ????
I remember commenting on this outfit on Instagram and noting how you put a spin on the primary colors! I really love this look, and that fur coat is fabulous!

A fabulous combination, love the brightness of your blouse. Cute boots too, I’ve got a similar boot in blush pink and wear them so often, they’re very flattering. x Jacqui
