NYFW 2017: The Gemy Maalouf Launch

in Style, Travel on 02/22/17

The Gemy Maalouf launch was an absolute highlight of my fashion week experience. Imagine an historic and glamorous hotel, candle- lit vibes, and an elegant feel. It was nothing short of magnificent.

The Show

The show took place at the Bowery Hotel on the lower East side. The models whisked by in a figure 8 pattern from one side of the room to another, accompanied by a solo cellist. The collection included mostly dresses, with such intricate and beautiful detailing. The pictures do not do it justice!

We were standing on the edge of the room, and the models walked right past us. We could hear the swish of fabrics and the tinkle of beading, which is music to my ears!

Although this has little to do with style, I noticed the models in this show had an eastern European look. One model in particular looked more muscular and had the most incredible posture. She was my favorite. You’ll notice her on the far right of the photograph below.

Highlights

Here are some favorite looks. In the first photo, I loved the bell bottom pants in nude! They were so unique and fun.

Otherwise, take a minute to enjoy an appreciate the textures, stunning necklines, and exquisite details.

Gemy Maalouf Celebrity Collabs

Another fun fact, Gemy Maalouf has dressed Gwen Stefani and Carrie Underwood! These two looks are quite different from the collection I saw in New York, but nonetheless they are still beautiful and totally reflect the personalities of Gwen and Carrie.

Bridal Collection

Gemy Maalouf’s 2017 bridal collection is breathtaking. This designer sure knows how to celebrate a woman’s body, as she creates the most beautiful silhouettes! If I was getting married I would absolutely want to try on this, this, and this.

Which Maalouf dress is your favorite?

Sooo many pretty dresses and details and ruffles and fabrics and colors and prints- sounds like an amazing experience- I’d wear the one to the left of the one Dorian liked! Carrie and Gwen look amazing too!

I like yellow dress in picture number 3, all the way on the right with the white petals on the shoulders. The texture on the dress with the sudden contrast in shape and color really reminds me of a natural phenomenon like a flower
