I was rifling through my closet and saying hello to all my loves. The pieces I haven’t had any place to wear. “Nonessential” luxuries of the wardrobe, if you will. All my lovely heels and bags are collecting dust, just waiting for our next date nights and future events. As much as I love loungewear and comfortable attire, I miss having an excuse to get dolled up. I’m a fashion girl after all.
I pulled the pumps Dan got me for my birthday out of their dust bags to say hey, and realized how much I miss certain corners of my closet. It’s kind of the same feeling you have in summer when you’re longing to be wrapped in a cozy sweater. Like you know the time will come, but you wish it was tomorrow. There are four major fashion categories I really miss right now.
My Current Missed Fashion Items
Heels. I guess I could be a badass and wear heels to the grocery store, but I’m not that person. I need an event or a date or a night out to get out those babies. In particular, I especially can’t wait to wear my Dior slingback birthday gift heels, Loeffler Randall gold knot sandals, and a pair of vintage Fendi heels I got on ThredUp.
Handbags. The only bag I’ve been using is our diaper bag for when we go on walks. I’m not sure why I even bring it, given the fact that we’re only gone for an hour at a time. This bag reminds me of our trip to London, and I distinctly remember buying this one for myself to celebrate a long stint of hard work. I’m looking forward to having a reason to wear my bags!
Lipstick. Admittedly, I haven’t been wearing much lipstick since Sidney was born because I like to kiss her cheeks constantly. When I’ve been wearing it, it is just for me, a shoot, or to record an Instagram story for a brand. Remember my January lipstick challenge when I wore a different lipstick every day for the month of January? That was SO fun, and a great way to explore my collection! Perhaps I should do another challenge in June with more summery colors.
Perfume. I love perfume because it can be so meaningful in so many ways. For instance, I still have the first bottle of Clinique Happy that Dan got me when we dated in high school. I know my mom still has my grandmother’s favorite perfume, and wears it on special occasions. I have a bottle of Chanel chance that splurged on when I studied abroad in Europe in college, and a delicious fragrance from our honeymoon in Italy. Each fragrance is a mood and takes me to a special place. But being at home hasn’t inspired me to wear any of them. Perhaps I should still wear a spritz, even if it is just for me.

Those Dior sling backs are gorgeous and I hear you Roxanne! I am not even a dressy person but I am now missing even putting lipgloss on! So I am a handbag girl and for me, I miss having my trusty companions accompany me wherever. I actually don’t have a place where I can put them so I started just putting a few on one of our tables to stare at. Yes, sad I know but it makes me happy and I miss them. I hope your week is going well so far and happy Wednesday!

I do miss my heels most of all! Fortunately I do a lot of play dress-up and styling at home- but wanna go out again and wear them for real!

I can totally understand your pain. Which is why I have been trying (notice the word trying) to still get dressed. It’s kinda like you’re practicing being retired..haha
And my Maybelline Matte lipstick stays on without coming off, and I love that.

I miss getting dressed up too! And with wearing a mask when I’m out, it defeats the purpose of lipstick! Can’t wait for things to return to normal!

I miss dressing up too! I try and dress a bit here and there, but the shoes just get worn on the blog and then they wait! Lipstick sales are probably down because of all of the mask wearing!
I can related!

We actually went out to dinner Saturday night–TX is gradually opening! While I dressed casually, I was happy to wear “all the things” at once with the purpose of going out–i.e., hair, makeup, lipstick (’cause you can’t wear a mask to eat) earrings, a belt! Haha!

Yes, it is so sad that we don’t have opportunities to dress up anymore. I miss my clothes and shoes too!

I totally feel where you are coming from, Roxanne! I miss having a reason to get dressed up, too. Although, I did put on heels to go get ice cream yesterday. It was a great photo opportunity. Admittedly, I took flat shoes with me though as well because we were walking around the harbor and the stilettos I had were not so great for that part!

I haven’t worn heels in a while with my knee injury but I have been missing my bags! 🙂 I have one bag I use for grocery shopping and that’s it, nothing exciting going on while all my bags are tucked away in their wardrobe!
Thanks for the link up!
Hope you had a wonderful weekend 🙂
