As fashionable people, you are probably constantly observing what people are wearing, keeping up on the fall runways, and flipping through magazines and catalogs. I know I am! You likely have some fall denim trends on your radar already. Regardless of what you already know, I want to prepare all of us for six denim styles that we’re going to be seeing on the streets this year.
1.Cropped Hems.
I call this the “show off your shoes” trend. I like them with a little flare on the end, too. Like I said, cropped hems are perfect for showing off your pretty fall shoes and boots! I especially love these from Frame and these from Madewell. Create an easy weekend look with sneakers and a sweater, or dress them up with booties and a frilly blouse.
2.Multiple Tones.
Look for more than one denim hue. Whether it is a side stripe, patches, or an ombre look from top to bottom. Gigi and Bella Hadid have been seen countless times wearing patchwork jeans by RE/DONE, in case you aren’t convinced (just scroll through this article to see). Another variation that designers are doing is placing the hem in the front (aka a split hem) with panels of denim on the sides, for a slightly deconstructed look.

3.Embellished and Embroidered.
The biggies are pearls (obsessed with this look) and embroidered flowers. Some pairs have pearls spread evenly throughout, others mix embellishments with a distressed element. No more bedazzled butts (*cough cough True Religion*), but instead bedazzled and flowery elsewhere. How funny are these?

4.Baggier Silhouettes.
I don’t like calling these “boyfriend” jeans because I don’t think the word fully describes what they are. Choose something that isn’t as tight, preferably with some distressing, like this pair. You can style baggy denim with pointy booties (obsessed with these), sneakers, or fold up the hem for that “extra wide cuff” effect fashionistas have been loving.

5.Uneven Hems.
Designers are also calling these “step hems” or “chewed hems.” They look a little undone, but very interesting. I recommend wearing these with flats or simple pumps so as not to take away from the drama of the denim. This pair is really cool because it combines the uneven hem with the cropped trend!
6.Button-Up Fly.
This is one of my favorite denim trends this fall because it has such a retro 1970s feel, especially on a pair of flares. Opt for a high-waisted pair to really get the full button-up effect, and tuck in a fitted turtleneck or long sleeve tee.
A few other trends that still fly.
Don’t worry – skinny jeans are still definitely in, and you can be sure you distressed pairs will get plenty of mileage. High waisted is also still big – thank goodness!
What to confidently get rid of.
I’ll leave you with my personal advice on this one, as controversial as it may be. Colored denim isn’t as prominent this year, but I have seen a few colors peeking through in the stores and online that may still work. Denim leggings are toss-able, or any jean with an elastic waist. Finally, those super duper low waisted jeans, because butt cracks are so out.
What denim trend are you excited about most this fall!?

I am a high-waist jean kinda gal because they are the most flattering, but I am really obsessed with uneven and raw hems and willing to try the different tone and button-fly ones, so retro!! Thanks for the inspo Roxanne, hope you are having a great week

I’ll never give up my brightly coloured jeans! haha! It’s true that they are getting harder to find though, definitely not as popular as they used to be. I’m keeping my eyes peeled for some embroidered ones, I love the embroidery trend and I have embroidered tops and shorts but no denim yet!
Hope you are having a lovely weekend! We are getting our family Santa photo done tomorrow, gotta get a move on with my Christmas cards, haha! 🙂

I love the uneven hems that I purchased in early spring but am desperately seeking a pair of high-waisted, wide leg pair, like yours. I love the 70s vibe they throw off.

These would look insanely good on you! The great part about the hem is that you can still tuck them into boots so they look like regular jeans. Two looks in one!
