Today’s post is pretty special because it is a collaboration with one of my blogger friends, Ada, of Elegance And Mommyhood! It is her birthday on Thursday, so she asked a bunch of bloggers to style an outfit! But not just any outfit.
Since Ada has recently been inspired to “shop her closet” (that means to wear things she already has, rather than shopping for new things!) she suggested that we choose a dress that we have had for over 2 years.
OLD DRESS, FRANCESCA’S, OPTION under $60, OPTION under $120, OPTION under $50 | M.GEMI HEELS, OPTION | JUSTFAB TOTE c/o | EARRINGS
For Ada’s birthday, I knew just the thing! My trusty linen ruffle tiered dress from Francesca’s has been an old standby of mine for years. Probably more like 5 years, if we’re counting. I’m actually shocked that I haven’t posted it before!
When I bought my dress in law school I figured it would be a great piece for work with a blazer, a show with my mom, date night with heels (I wore some classic M.Gemi faves in these pics), or weekend fun with friends. A perfectly versatile piece, if you will. On a law school budget, versatility is necessary. My exact dress is sold out, but I linked to a few others that are similar if you’re in the market for an easy navy blue dress.
Fast forward to 2017 to when Dan and I met near his office in Dupont Circle last Thursday for dinner and drinks (we went to Circa if you’re familiar with the area!) Even though we don’t have children, we still try to schedule some date nights, because between our jobs, my blogging, the gym, hobbies etc., we sometimes forget to look each other in the eye and actually catch up. It’s kind of crazy, really.
Dupont Circle is always bustling, but it happened to be even more so on a beautiful Thursday afternoon during rush hour. People were lounging on the fountain, sitting in the grass, jogging through, and playing chess. As an avid people-watcher, being able to see the action is my idea of fun.
Best wishes, Ada, on your birthday! I hope your day is filled with glitter and sprinkles. And champs, of course. You can’t have a birthday without champagne ;). Make sure you head over to Ada’s blog to see who else is participating in the birthday style party!
