Here’s the story about how I jumped into a bunch of dead flowers at the beach to see if they would match my floral embroidered dress. And there’s a moral to this story.

Happy Monday!
Howdy and happy Monday! How was everyone’s weekend? I always go into the weekend thinking that I will read a great new book cover to cover while chillin’ by the pool, but that’s never the case, is it? I still had a pretty fun time though! I went to a Korean Spa with a new friend, and it was such a cool and unique experience. I’m debating if I want to share more about it here on the blog. The place had a bunch of themed saunas with different healing properties (like a salt room, oxygen room, crystal room) and your could add on services like a facial or massage if you wanted to.
If you read my newsletter (sign up if you don’t already!) you know that we are in the process of buying a condo! I’m hesitant to get too excited about it because we haven’t closed yet. But we had our inspection yesterday and it went really well! I’m super design challenged, so I’ll be blowing up Pinterest for ideas. Do you have any good design blogs or magazines you love and recommend?
My Dreamy Floral Embroidered Dress
Michelle and I shot this look on Friday and she already turned it around for me! What a rockstar. We started playing around with a wider angle lens that is typically for shooting interiors, but the effect is that it makes me look so much taller! I LOVE how these turned out. I’m thinking of doing a post on photography and our whole process from creative concept brainstorming to editing. Let me know if you think that would be interesting!
Anyhow, my dress is SO dreamy and only $35. It comes in a blue version, too. The story of how we got these shots is kind of funny. We were walking along the beach after having shot 3 looks already, so our creative juices were low. We came across a patch of flowers that were mostly dead, but Michelle encouraged me to hop in amongst them to see how they looked with the dress. Boom – amazing photos. She still managed to make the teensy patch of half dead flowers look dreamy. I’m sure passersby were thinking “what the heck is this chick doing in the dead flower patch” but these might be my favorite photos ever!
So the moral of the story is, if you see something that your creative mind just can’t pass up, then don’t let the opportunity go by. Who cares if people walking by think you’re a little bit nuts. Maybe you are – but you got the shot of your dreams. And even if you didn’t, you can sleep well at night knowing that you didn’t neglect to try something unique. I think this applies to all of us, not just from a blog photo shoot perspective. Seize the moment and never be afraid to try something that might seem a bit wacky.

On Mondays We Link Up
My favorite look from last week’s link up is Alexa from Fabes Fashion!
I love her little retro corduroy dress! And what’s even more spectacular, is that she got it for under $8! I checked, and it comes in 14 colors. Check out her blog to grab it!
That dress is beautiful. I love the floral detail.

You made the right choice of location for the pictures, they look marvellous ! and good luck on the condo, I know what it’s like to have to wait for a property and all that it involves. Good vibes your way.
I love when you take a chance on photos and they turn out really great—when you’re feeling it, it totally shows!

It is so true! And the worst that happens is that you just move on to another shot!
I know what you are talking about! when I did the shoot for Karina dresses, I had no idea a vintage truck was waiting for me to be used in the shoot! It sounds like fun, and like you said – if you see something that sparks you creative juices, go for it. Love the pics with the flowers and your dress is so pretty, I love the colors. I thought it was a top and skirt at first. Love those white sandals, very pretty!.

You look lovely in those flowers-I love it! The dress is so feminine and pretty and the colors go so well in with them! There is still some life left in them- they are only half dead! Good advice to not be afraid to try new things!
Beautiful look and photos! Hope all goes well with the condo purchase.
That’s so exciting about your condo, Roxanne!!
Now that we painted our kitchen cabinets, I want to redecorate the living room, so I’m going to try a virtual service with a woman that we collaborated with earlier this year: https://littleblackdomicile.com/. Just a thought for you….
You look amazing in this dress…I love that you are hiding amidst the flowers!!

I love these pictures. Absolutely stunning. The dress is gorgeous too. I love the floral top.
Roxanne, you are too cute and so funny! I have definitely taken photos in some odd places, too, where passers-by must think I am a nut! But who cares? Life is short, seize the moment and go with it. These photos are totally dreamy just like your dress. And it’s funny, as I was scrolling through the photos before I got to your text, I did think that you looked much taller than usual! Ha. The beauty of camera angles, right?!

These photos turned out beautiful! It all seemed so natural – dead flowers or not! You and your photographer work well together! I am keeping my fingers crossed for you guys regarding your condo! That’s going to be awesome if you guys get it! Okay I’ll cross my toes too! Your dress is very pretty. I love the floral top with the simple white tiered skirt. It’s a lovely combo!

So pleased you stepped into the flowers – they are the best shots. My husband is the one who pushes me – I can be a bit shy about going that extra step. But, when ever I do I’ve been pleased I did xx
Ah I love your dress and this post. I would love to hear a post on everything photography!

I would never have guessed in a million years that your creativity juices were low from these photos. So much fun but my fav is the one where you are holding the flower to represent your eye. C
Great work ladies. Fingers crossed for you on your condo.
