A word about my outfits. I love style, but sometimes talking about off the shoulder tops and flowy dresses and distressed shorts can get repetitive and I feel like everyone does that. I don’t want to just be another blogger who is like “look at this, look at that” because frankly, I’m running out of adjectives for “amazing’ and “stylish.” I think if you are like me, you enjoy looking at pretty pictures and getting style ideas, but would rather read about the writer’s (i.e. MY) life and opinions!
So we’re going to try that in the upcoming posts, mmkay?

So let’s talk about the elephant in the room. I spent too much on these distressed denim shorts. HOWEVER, have you guys heard of cost per wear? It is a way I justify buying expensive things. For example, if you purchase a $100 item and wear it 10 times, that item is much more valuable to you than a $100 item that you only wear once.
In the short time that I have had these distressed shorts, I have certainly gotten my money’s worth:
- The first day I got them, I threw them on after work to run to Whole Foods;
- To a Dave Matthews Band concert;
- To play board games with my sister and brother-in-law;
- Once I wore them to deep clean the house;
- As a casual-cute ice cream date outfit with the husband;
- To meet my cute fashionable friends for coffee;
- On a zip lining excursion in Mexico.
Without a doubt, I’ve DEFINITELY already gotten the price per wear of these shorts down. They’ve been $14.14 per wear so far, so be exact. I’m sure that I’ll wear them much much more. If you are thinking of getting One Teaspoon shorts, which I highly recommend, size up.
Secret time: I got a pair of $16 shorts from another retailer and I wore them ONCE. Because I don’t like them much and they aren’t nearly as amazing as these babies. I’m SUPER excited about that. And since we’re being honest, I have not gotten a stellar price per wear out of this tunic. I still love it though.
What expensive clothing item you splurge on? Did you get your money’s worth in cost per wear!?

I once spent a lot of money on fancy parkour shoes with super grippy technology. I used them so much that they tore into tiny pieces. So I guess sometimes high quality is economical?

I’ve never heard of cost per wear before, but that’s actually an amazing point!! It’s intuitive that it’s worth spending a little more on something that you’ll get a lot of use out of and a little less on something you won’t wear often, but I love how you broke down the math. So genius!! It can even be generalized to “cost per use,” for other things that aren’t clothing items. I’m going to think about this now whenever I make a purchase!

I’m glad you agree!
