Let’s face it. Bloggers do some really basic stuff. In case you’re not up on the slang (hi mom) “basic” means what everyone else is doing, the norm, or just so typical. You may remember my post about why I’m a sucky blogger, and you can check that out to refresh your memory about basic blogging behavior.
But I’m here today to tell you that I actually did some really basic shizz and I’m not that mad about it.
OUTFIT DETAILS:
SHEIN PALM DRESS c/o | EMU PALM SHOES c/o | REBECCA MINKOFF BAG | RAYBAN SUNNIES | BAUBLEBAR EARRINGS c/o
First, let’s start with the obvious. I went to brunch with my husband (that’s pretty basic, but who doesn’t love brunch!?) and on the way home I picked up flowers. Picking up the flowers wasn’t the offense. It was USING THEM as a prop in these photos! Bloggers do this all the time, except they conveniently have a beautiful basket in which to put them.
I still subscribe to the blogger suck because: 1. my long-stemmed sunflowers were wrapped in newsprint. 2. They are not peonies, roses, or hydrangeas. But instead of putting them aside to shoot this outfit, I used them as a prop. They’re a gorgeous touch, so now I know why bloggers do this all the time.
Next up for obvious, I’m wearing palm print. Every blogger and their mother and kitten is wearing palm print. In defiance of the norm, I decided to pair my pretty palm dress (only $15) WITH my emu palm espadrille sneakers for a palm overload! Can’t stop won’t stop.
Third, and omg you won’t believe this, but I bought a macaroon from Ladurée (they just opened 2 locations in DC) and I took a photo of it for my Instagram story. It was good, but I’m still not a macaroon girl. See number 2.
As an update, I still kill plants, have no “girlboss” gear, and refuse to start an Instagram post with “Happy [insert day of the week]” or “walking into [insert of day of the week] like [insert emoji].” But we all have our weaknesses from time to time 🙂
*just fyi, I’m having fun with this post and it’s just my general taste! I don’t mean to offend anyone in any way and if you do “basic” stuff I don’t judge you one bit! I mean, if you have the courage to walk down the street with balloons declaring your milestone of 1 million followers, then you’re a badass.

I am dying laughing at this post!! Yes, we all get a little basic at times, what can you do?! At least you actually bought flowers for a purpose, not just as a prop. LOVE this palm print dress, I think I need it! Very fun post Roxanne.
