Last week, I set a personal goal to wake up every day at 6:00 a.m. I have always wanted to be a morning person, so I am doing an experiment to see if it is life changing. I have read many articles about how morning people have extra time to themselves to exercise, pack lunch, drink their coffee – whatever they feel like doing before the day begins. The notion made me jealous.
Since I successfully woke up at 6 a.m. for a whole week, we had to go out to celebrate the accomplishment.

I am definitely going to continue waking up early next week, and I will report back if it is indeed life-changing. Having this blog and a journalistic reason for waking up early really helps me get out of bed!
As a bonus, I’m doing the 21 Day Fix fitness dvds every morning. The program lasts for 3 weeks, or 21 days. The workouts are tough, but fun. I’ll report back on my experience and with some before and after photos for those who are interested. I personally love before/after photos, although not necessarily of myself. But I’m biting the bullet and sucking it up for you guys. Yikes!
And now on to the outfit. Spring has finally sprung in DC. I picked out this fun pleated midi skirt from ASOS. Remember my tips in this post about picking your proportions wisely? The midi length definitely makes me look taller. I paired the midi skirt with a layered blouse (mine is old from Francesca’s) but this, this, and this are all beautiful and affordable options, and would make for a similar outfit.
Finally, these block heels. You guys, they are PERFECT! The camel color goes with everything and the block heel is more comfortable for walking than a stiletto. I had to track them down because they were sold out in my size everywhere, but I recently found them on Zappos in plenty of sizes. They also have them in black at Nordstrom. I know they are a little bit of a splurge. Here is a less expensive option, and also here.

That’s great that you are waking up early. I am a morning person and usually hit the gym at 5:40am before heading to work. Luckily my hubby takes care of the kids in the morning so I sneak out before any of them wake up. Love the skirt. I have a similar one in green. Would love if you can link up to http://the-wardrobe-stylist.com/2016/04/24/mothers-day-rings/

Roxanne, so good for you for waking up at 6.00 every day. I didn’t use to be a morning person but being a mom, you sort of become one. Though I wake up earlier now, I still would like to wake up at 6.30-7.30 at the latest each day and it doesn’t always happen.
This outfit is perfection head to toe. I need a midi or maxi pleated blush skirt. I love yours, the shoes, necklace and clutch too. But that daisy tank truly has my heart. I like the option from JC Penney you suggested, too. I am looking to buy some nude laceup block heels because I think they are so pretty and will go with everything.
Please don’t forget to link up this beautiful outfit and any latest looks with me this upcoming Thursday. Thanks, Ada.
P.S. So glad I found your blog! We must follow each-other on Blogloving and Instragram (I just opened my Insta).
Roxanne says
Thanks, Ada. It is hard to get into the habit. Check out Asos – they have tons of colors and good prices on midi skirts! I WISH the daisy tank was still in stock – it is one of my absolute favorites. I will be sure to visit your linkup Thursday, and I just found you on instagram as well!

I’m an early person (it helps that I have to be awake pretty early anyway because of my early work schedule). I can’t even sleep in if I tried. Only times are when I’m feeling under the weather or if I’m tipsy.
Congratulations on the feat. And very cute outfit for a celebration.
Roxanne says
I’m hoping that I get to the same point you’re at, where you wake up early automatically! They say it takes 21 days/3 weeks to make a habit!

I get so much done in the early mornings! I Love that blouse with the flowers!
Roxanne says
I still feel like I am rushing, even with the extra time. I should probably try waking up at 5:30 to see if the extra half hour makes a difference.

I find that giving myself a little reward always helps me reach my goals! I definitely feel much more productive.

I did a really similar thing recently, but the other way around! I set myself an early bedtime, and then inevitably also started waking up early too! It really is an awesome routine — I feel much more alert and productive in the morning.
Roxanne says
That’s a good point! I think I need to work on the early bedtime, because I still go to sleep at 11!
