Picnic in the Park
It has been a fun challenge to find things to do that allow us to maintain social distancing. We’ve been going for drives around the city and trying to explore neighborhoods that we haven’t seen. A couple of weekends ago we took a drive down to the south side of Chicago to see the Museum of Science and Industry (the site of the World’s Fair in 1893) and the University of Chicago. It was rainy so we just admired the campus from the car. I like to joke that we were taking Sidney on a college tour.
While we were driving around we drove past a park that I later learned was Jackson Park. It a little island park behind the Museum with pretty walking paths, a small lake, and a Japanese garden. On a beautiful day we decided to go back to find a picnic spot!
We found a great little patch of grass right outside the Osaka Friendship Garden with a view of some beautiful flowering trees. We plopped down and watched Sidney devour some fruit salad (not pictured, because we took photos before) in her cute little sunhat, and squealed at other children playing from afar.
Having Sidney has made me slow down; something I’m really grateful for. Before she came along I would have packed my schedule so full of things. I love watching her play and enjoying moments with my little family. It was such a perfect afternoon and I can’t wait to go back and do it again!
These floral shorts are a fun new addition to my closet from LOFT. They’re so cute and comfortable, and also come in plus!

I do not envy those with children right now, it must be so hard to try and keep them entertained and maintain their social growth

Thanks for the link up!
We had a picnic on Saturday taking advantage of the relaxed restrictions, and then had a lovely Mother’s Day 🙂 Previously you weren’t able to just sit in a park before, but they have relaxed that rule so picnics are an allowed reason to leave your house 🙂
