Trying new beauty products has always been a hobby of mine. Not just make up, but skin care, too. I’ve been getting the Birchbox beauty subscription on and off for a long time now, but sometimes they send something so unique and incredible that I need to shout it from the rooftops.
Behold, the Real Chemistry Luminous 3-Minute Peel.
(p.s. as I write this the polls are closing and I’m kind of freaking out. By the time you read this we will have a new president. Crazy.)
Let me tell you why this product is so cool. First you cleanse your face as you normally would. Then, with your face still a little damp, you rub this gel all over your face and massage it into your skin in a circular motion. After about 15-20 seconds, the gel starts to combine with your dead skin, and you’ll start to feel it under your fingertips.
You can actually feel it working. Keep massaging for 2-3 minutes (if you can stop, because it is so gratifying), rinse, then cleanse again.
I’m all about instant gratification, which is probably why I love washing my face with a Clarisonic brush and seeing how much makeup the brush takes off (check out the first time I said that like 800 years ago). Or why instantly volumizing hair products are gratifying. Or why those biore pore strips are so fun to look at when you take them off. When I feel my dead skin (Real Chemistry calls them proteins if it grosses you out) coming off, it makes me feel SO GOOD like I am actually doing something with that extra skincare step.
Real Chemistry says you can use the peel once a week. It exfoliates gently without any beads or sandy pieces, which is perfect for sensitive skin. Over time, it is supposed to reduce acne scars, dark spots, and some occasional blotchiness.
My skin has felt fresh, glowy, and less congested. Where have you been all my life, Real Chemistry peel?!
