A tropical vacation is always an absolute dream. I love looking out at the Caribbean (or whatever body of water I am near) and losing myself in the waves. A little sunshine, rest, and soaking up island vibes always puts me in a splendid mood.
Dan and I went on a four day Caribbean cruise between Christmas and New Years. We decided to go with the Celebrity Silhouette, since we know it is reputable, and the price was right.

Taking a 4 Day Caribbean Cruise to Cozumel
We flew down to Fort Lauderdale and stayed in the Riverside Hotel on Las Olas for a night. It was SO charming! There are lots of restaurants and bars in the area, too. We chose our hotel’s seafood restaurant but made sure to stroll around a little bit to soak in the tropical vibes. We chose to fly in a day early to avoid stressing out about missing our boarding time.
We got up early the next day and headed to the ship! Boarding a ship is a whole process. You drop off your checked bags (that you tag ahead of time with your room number), then get in line for security. The security lines are kind of like the TSA at the airport, except a little more relaxed. Then you sign in with the cruise staff, and they attach a credit card to your account, give you room keys, kind of like a hotel check in process. (Keep in mind you’re still not on the boat.)
THEN you board! And they hand you champagne and it’s all fun from there. Since all your luggage will be dropped off at your room later in the evening, it’s smart to put your swimsuit and anything you might want in your carry on. Instead of heading straight for the pool, we explored basically every nook and cranny of the boat.
Our ship had just finished a Christmas cruise, so it was decorated with pretty Christmas decorations. There are so many cool places to chill out on a cruise, with multiple decks, pools, and indoor areas. We tried to take advantage of as may as we could.
I thought the food was really good! The buffets had basically anything you could want, including gluten free options (you just had to ask, or read the labels). If you want to eat healthy on a cruise, you totally can. You just have to have a really strong will! Beverages besides water, coffee, and tea are extra. But I don’t recommend getting a beverage package unless you are SURE you will be drinking 5+ boozy drinks a day.
Dinner is based on your seating time in the main restaurant. We chose to be seated at 8:30. You can order whatever you want off the menu and it is all included. Some days I just ordered a bunch of appetizers! There are also a selection of “specialty” restaurants that cost a bit extra. We chose an Italian restaurant as our extra, and splurged on some sushi, too.
The boat spent one day at port, two days at sea, and one day at Cozumel, where we got off and decided to go to a beach. I just wanted to veg out, read, dip my toes in the Caribbean, and have some drinks. But there are tons of excursions, like zip lining, going to see ancient ruins, hiking, etc! It’s all up to your preference.
There is tons of entertainment on the boat, too. There were fully choreographed shows with singers, dancers, and acrobats in the evenings. Multiple bands played at various times of day, including a jazz quartet and a rock band. There a a casino, if that’s your jam. And a cruise director coordinates Zumba, pool games, contests…all that fun stuff.
The resident DJ was really good, too! He hosted a “silent disco” a couple of nights. Everyone gets a pair of headphones that change to 3 channels, and each channel makes the headphones light up a different color. So if you take off your headphones, it looks like people are just dancing with headphones! But the idea lets everyone rock out to their own music. Or if you see everyone suddenly switch to the green channel, then it makes you want to check it out, too! Pretty cool!
I was lucky enough to visit the spa and have a facial. It was fantastic and super relaxing. My aesthetician was extremely knowledgeable, and gave me some great tips for exfoliating and keeping my pores clean.
My Outfit
I’m pretty sure the pink dress photos were taken after my facial, which is why a. I look so happy and b. my skin looks super glowy. This is the dress I was talking about in my cruise packing list! It’s such a fun color-I’m obsessed. Here’s another similar option, too! So as not to detract from the dress, I kept it simple with my baublebar tassel earrings, a leopard clutch, and my favorite nude heels.
I included a bonus photo of Dan, because he looked so sharp! I like to take test photos while he models so I can adjust my settings. It also helps so he can see what I want in my photos!
Photo Diary
A little Caribbean photo diary is below for you! I seriously had so much fun and I’m SO glad we booked it, even though it was short!
