I love trying out new beauty products! As someone who is always trying new things, it is hard for one product to really “stick.” Because if it doesn’t work well the first time, it’s always “on to the next one…”
And that is ESPECIALLY true with mascara.
The special thing about this CoverGirl mascara isn’t in the formula, it’s in the brush. The brush looks like something from outer space, with the negative spaces between the bristles and a spikey ball on the end that reminds me of a medieval flail (it’s okay I googled it too.)
But in the true spirit of our times, it is designed to be an all inclusive brush. What I mean is, there is something on this spiky wand that suits every type of lash.
There are shorter bristles that pile on more product to create volume, longer ones for creating length, and the ball at the end is for catching the tiny lashes that a horizontal application might miss.
I dove right in with the volumizing piece, then turned the want to the lengthening side to separate my lashes. I used the ball to get the inner and outer corners, which are really hard to get.
For the pros: I like the versatility of the brush and the formula is flake free and easy to remove. The brush makes it really easy to fix mistakes, like too much gloopy product. And the price tag of $8.99 is fantastic.
Cons: I’m not a huge fan of the rubber mascara brushes. It is kind of hard to get the lower lashes because the wand is convex.
Overall, it is a good mascara! I love CoverGirl products and I’m always excited to see their new innovations.
*I received this mascara for free for testing purposes. As always, all opinions are my own.
