Learning To Sleep
How was your weekend?! We are in the midst of sleep training Sidney which is a new experience for all of us. Bed time is at 7pm, or at least that’s what we aim for! We just put her to sleep and I’m sitting here glued to the monitor watching and hoping that my baby girl stays asleep for as long as possible. (If you’re new here, here’s Sidney’s birth story!)
At 14 weeks old (that’s 3 months and change) I think that she is transitioning away from the late night feedings, which is such a relief for me. Some nights she will wake up around 4am to eat. But sometimes she sleeps through that 4am feeding session! Her record is 10 hours straight, which is amazing! Let’s hope that’s a trend and not a fluke, haha.
The Most Flattering Jeans Of All Time
Since motherhood is my main hobby right now, let’s talk about that post-baby belly situation. There is so much pressure on new moms to “bounce back”. Everyone tells you “oh you’ll bounce back quickly” or “the pounds will just melt off.” To be honest, I’m in no particular rush. Nor do I feel like I NEED to get back to my pre-baby size. I’m proud of what my body accomplished, and I get to see that every time I look at my sweet daughter. My belly is still squishy and my core is slowly recovering some strength. The baby weight is slowly coming off, but that’s just it. Slowly.
Instead of pressuring myself to fit back into my pre-pregnancy jeans, I went out and got some new ones! I want to wear what I want now instead of waiting for some magical day when I can wear jeans again. And hallelujah these particular jeans are incredible. I call them my “sucky-inny” jeans! They’re high waisted, stretchy, and really suck in and smooth your belly. They’re actually called “sculpting jeans” for the way they flatter your shape! I got a 6 petite and they fit so perfectly (I’m 5’1″). Everyone should have a pair of jeans that makes them feel this good. I just love them.

The jeans look fantastic and love how you paired them with the long cardigan vest! Everything takes time and you look fabulous at this stage of your life, no need to rush it! Good luck with the sleep training, sounds like she’s doing so well already!

Your so lucky she sleeps so well at such a young age. I love your body attitude! I wear mostly jeans from Stitch Fix which all have stretch. I couldn’t imagine wearing jeans without stretch. They are so comfortable?

Yes to wearing things that make you feel good now!!!! Love that you are spreading that message. I know it’s hard and there are probably days, but feeling good in this moment is way better than thinking about “when” because even when/if you go to that same “weight” the body is different so some of your clothes won’t fit the same or make you feel the same as they did before. This isn’t a bad thing at all, it’s change, evolution and it means new clothes! Looking wonderful and the cardigan looks so cozy.

You look fabulous, Roxanne! And I agree that you should be wearing clothes that make you great now rather than waiting for some magical day. Good for you! I wish you much luck with sleep training. The mommies need sleep, too!

I love a good pair of jeans and even better when it just sucks it in or help in that area. To be honest, my stomach area is still squishy from the pregnancy stretch and my son is already five! I’ll have to check this out. Happy Monday Roxanne and I hope sleep training goes well these next few weeks.
