Save Time with Dry Shampoo

It is January 11, and we are still trying to stick to our resolutions. One that we all make or renew each year is to exercise more. But if you are like me, exercising is not just a hassle because of the actual workout. It is the after-workout routine (showering, blow drying, styling) that takes a long time. What if you can skip washing your hair for a couple of days and still get in your workout? I’m sold, and have been sold, for a long time now.

I am a dry shampoo die-hard and I consider myself an absolute expert. It is like my secret (not so secret) weapon. I can revive limp post-workout hair, refresh yesterday’s style, and add some volume and texture all with a few spritzes.

Since I discovered the wonder that is dry shampoo I have been experimenting with different brands. No matter what I am using at the time, it goes with me in my gym bag, on vacation, and it sits on the bathroom counter in a prominent spot. Of all the dry shampoos I have tried these are by far my five favorites, and there is a price point for everyone!

one. Elizabeth and James Nirvana Black. This dry shampoo smells just like the perfume – which is really sexy. It smells like vanilla and sandalwood and a little bit of mystery. It dries colorless, which is important for us brunette girls. (Fun fact: Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen designed the line.) Although it is expensive, it doubles as a perfume.

two. Amika Perk Up. If I had to pick one, this is probably my absolute favorite. I have gone through countless bottles of this dry shampoo. It smells absolutely amazing it does an incredible job of absorbing oil and creating volume, without a trace of chalkiness. The package is also super cute.

three. Klorane Dry Shampoo with Nettle. My hair is fine and wavy, but the wave goes away after a long workout. This dry shampoo is specially formulated for oily roots, and gives my hair extra oomph so I just have to brush through and scrunch my hair a little. I especially like that the spray is really powerful!

four. TreSemme Fresh Start Volumizing Dry Shampoo. This is the first dry shampoo I ever used, and I still really enjoy it. I think I saw it in a magazine and I had to try it and it has been a trusty companion of mine every since. I especially love that it is under $7. The only con is that it can sometimes leave a little white residue if you don’t rub it in pretty well. However, that is probably only a concern for darker haired folks.

five. Not Your Mother’s Clean Freak Refreshing Dry Shampoo. This brand is really amazing. I haven’t had a bad experience with any of their products that I have tried (check out this post) and this dry shampoo is no exception. It is only $5.99, and you get a whopping 7 ounces in this gigantic bottle. Just make sure you shake the can really well and rub it in to your roots.

Thanks so much for doing this post… I am ALWAYS on the hunt for a good dry shampoo. I have tried the Amika and Tresseme one’s and have been wanting to try the Elizabeth and James one for so long but the price point has held me back. Perhaps I will add it to my bag the next time I hit Sephora!

Dry shampoo is such a savior! I use Dry Bar’s, but Klorane is another favorite as well. Good roundup!
