The Magnificent 8
The Magnificent 8 is back, and we’re styling vintage and heirloom pieces. We styled animal print in October, white dresses in July, bathing suits last July, distressed denim in October, Activewear in January, colorful patterns in April, and now we’re back with another meaningful theme.
My Little Ladies
I was very close with my maternal grandmother. So much, that Sidney is named after her (Sidney’s middle name is Eileen, which was my dear grandmother’s name.) I admired her for always looking stylish, polished, and put together. So, of course, I’m wearing her earrings and lipstick in today’s vintage & heirloom post.
I remember it like it was yesterday. I would sit down at my grandmother’s vanity and open every drawer. I’d pick up a tube of lipstick and open it to reveal the shade, then place it neatly back in its perfect place. Shades with names like Golden Brandy, Violet Berry, and Think Bronze, that float back so many memories. That was the kind of lady my grandmother was – very organized – so I tried to keep her things the way I found them. My favorite shade was a sparkly mauve called WaterViolet.
She swore by Clinique makeup, and her collection of green lipstick tubes reflected that. Remember Clinique’s old packaging? Whenever she would repurchase one of her products, she would get a gift with purchase and would sometimes gift it to me and my mom. She knew how much I loved the WaterViolet lipstick, so when she got a fresh one, she gave it to me.
I still have that tube of WaterViolet, and I’m wearing it in today’s post. It’s down to the last nub, but I’ll probably never get rid of it. Clinique decided to discontinue this color, for reasons I’ll never know! The formula is great so I linked it above if you want to try another color.
After she passed away, she entrusted my mother to distribute all her jewelry to her grandchildren. I really liked these cameo earrings (I like to call them little ladies), so I decided to keep them. I wear them so much, and I like the vintage flair they give any outfit. For today’s outfit I paired them with a cozy thermal and boots from Amazon (it doesn’t get any more modern than that!). Although she didn’t give the earrings to me directly, they reflect her style and poise and make me think of her when I wear them.
More About The Magnificent Eight
The Magnificent 8 is a collaboration among 8 stylish women from every decade of life (teens all the way up to 80s!) showcasing our style one generation at a time. And I’m representing the 30-somethings! The mission of our collaboration is to show you just how ageless style is, how we can each dress however we’d like and in ways that make us feel fabulous. There are no age restrictions on style. So wear what you want, when you want, add a smile, and strut your style with confidence. And be sure to check out all 8 of these amazing gals! We will be sharing these posts on a quarterly basis…so be sure to check back in April for the next post in our series.

Such a beautiful post, Roxanne! Heirloom pieces are so special because of the memories they bring back. <3 I know the exact green Clinique packaging you're talking about as my grandma used the brand too. Your cameos are beautiful, and I love that you call them little ladies. I'm wearing my grandma's earrings in my post too and while the exact lipstick I styled didn't belong to her, I do have some tubes that did!

I can’t believe you still have the lipstick too Roxanne. How cool is that??
I have some earrings like this in black and white. I wonder where I got mine?? Now I’m on a mission to figure it out.

Roxanne, I love this nostalgic post about your grandmother’s jewelry and makeup. She sounds like she was a fascinating woman! And those cameo earrings are gorgeous. I am a huge fan of cameos. I used to have an entire hat collection that was my grandmothers, but somehow over the years, the entire thing was lost. I think maybe my mom got rid of it all when I went off to college and then never moved back home or took my things out of her basement. It makes me sad that they are gone, but I will cherish the memories. This was such a fun theme! Thanks for suggesting it.
