Laying Low
With all the things going on with the virus, it’s an understatement to say it has been a weird month. The past week in particular has been so strange and alarming. Sometimes I’m frozen and feel myself succumbing to the paranoia and panic that has seemed to grip the globe. At the same time, I want to keep living our lives.
It feels strange to post like normal with everything going on and all of us laying low right now. I was even doing some online shopping and thinking about how unimportant a new blouse seems in comparison to the news. I think this is the case, but you probably come here to escape from all the craziness going on in the world. So I’m going to keep my chin up and try my best to bring you content that makes both of us happy.
Sidney is what keeps me upbeat and positive when it seems like the world is crumbling. I know that she needs me to be a happy and upbeat mom, but the truth is that I need her as much as she needs me. She’s my sunshine when everything feels bleak and unknown. Her sweet smile makes me feel so much better. I’m making it a priority to make her laugh more, by dancing around to her favorite songs and reading her favorite books with even more animation. Some day we will look back and tell her about the craziness that happened in the first year of her life.
Dan, Jake and Elwood are pretty awesome, too. It’s only a matter of time until Dan will have to work from home, and we will all be able to give each other lots of extra love. Extra pets and baby cuddles make everyone happy, right? I think we could all use a little extra love right now. Stay safe, friends!

I used to work in the medical field – hospital lab tech. Lots of procedures in place in order not to inadvertently pass along a contagious illness. Learning those procedures as a young lab tech took a lot of thought and attention. This is where we all are now. Eventually these procedures will become second nature. And this will be the new normal, at least until science creates a vaccine.
And you are absolutely right, be joyful when you can. While being careful is necessary, feeling miserable is not requirement and doesn’t help anything anyway.

We need some normalcy for sure Roxanne. And having a little one around puts it all into perspective.

Yes, I couldn’t agree more. It’s a scary time right now and last week I felt so torn about my husband’s upcoming trip, my parents visit and my son’s school. I can say that it was really messing with me because every other text I got was what not to do or a corona virus update. While I agree it’s better to be safe, I also like to stay upbeat and last week was hard. This week is better and I am sure it will be a roller coaster ride for some time. I don’t know how things will play out but I do know I am taking advantage of all the snuggles and cuddles. Happy Monday Roxanne!

It looks like you are getting some nice sunshine. That helps a little, too. It’s been so overcast and rainy here, it’s hard to feel upbeat on that basis, alone. I agree, snuggles with Sydney and singing and laughing sound like the perfect medicine.

Thank you for continuing the link up, I think we need to keep as much of our “daily lives” going as possible. And blogging is definitely something we can continue!

Roxanne, I am right there with you. Blogging about everyday things seems a bit frivolous in this environment but we still need to keep living our lives. And I am welcoming all the positive upbeat distractions that I can get. So we must keep going on with our work here because the world really does need it. Plus we seem to be one of the few communities that can keep going as normal since we all work our blogs remotely from our homes! I am embracing this opportunity to reset life and priorities and just get myself back on track. The downtime will be nice. Stay safe and healthy, my friend!
