I was originally going to wear this blue lace dress to my friend’s wedding in Grand Rapids, Michigan. I even laid it out and teased it on Instagram. Luckily, I threw in a back-up dress (seen in this post) as I was running out of the apartment just in case.

When I put on this blue lace number at the hotel in Grand Rapids, I realized I desperately needed a slip…which I did not bring. Womp womp. Wardrobe malfunctions.
I chose the dress months ago with no particular occasion in mind. I figured a) I love dresses b) it is gorgeous and c) I could just be fabulous and wear it to run the the grocery store if all else failed. In all seriousness I was bound to wear it eventually.
I love the lace overlay and how it is a ladylike midi length, which shows off shoes so well. The dress also comes in navy and red, but I thought the light blue was soft and unique.
So for our first wedding anniversary this year, I chose wore it…with a slip. The night was so special – we went to drinks at Denson, a speak easy type place in Chinatown. Then we had dinner at The Dabney, which was SO delicious. They have a farm-to-table philosophy and cook everything in an open kitchen with a wood-burning hearth. Tasty food and a perfect dress for a perfect night with my perfect man.
