Whenever I feel a little bit down on myself (which has sadly been more often than not lately) I take the time to dress up. I put on a great outfit and my day is instantly 90% better, even if it takes about 5 or 6 outfit changes to get it right.

I don’t want to be miss anti-rainbow, but I know I’ve been too hard on myself lately. I still haven’t found the job I want in Chicago, I’ve been slipping on my health goals, and I haven’t been feeling as inspired with my blog posts. A good friend of mine suggested that I look back at some old posts to try and figure out what was making me tick when I felt more inspired. I’ve been doing that lately, and it has been helping me see how I have grown and changed, and that exercise has helped to renew my inspiration.

This beautiful embroidered sleeve top is an instant mood booster for me. I tried it on with this skirt, this skirt, and this skirt, but ultimately ended up feeling the most comfortable in my trusty black skinnies. These amazing black and gold heels from FSJ shoes are the perfect cherry on top!

My favorite look from last week was Shelbee from Shelbee On The Edge!

The truth is, Shelbee linked two other outfits last week, and not this one. But I saw this outfit on her blog when I went to grab another photo, and I liked this one the best! Her pink beret is perfection, and her gray coat is so chic. Shelbee is one of the kindest souls in the blogger community you will ever meet. You need to check out her wise blog post that accompanies this fabulous outfit, too!

    Hello ,

I saw your tweet about animals and thought I will check your website. I like it!

I love pets. I have two beautiful thai cats called Tammy(female) and Yommo(male). Yommo is 1 year older than Tommy. He acts like a bigger brother for her. 🙂
I have even created an Instagram account for them ( https://www.instagram.com/tayo_home/ ) and probably soon they will have more followers than me (kinda funny).

I have subscribed to your newsletter. 🙂

Keep up the good work on your blog.

    Regards

Those flower embroidery on the sleeves is sooo pretty! They simply pop out of the black outfit. Love that you accessorized it with gold necklace too dear. Such a classy look.

  6. I know it’s hard, but be kind to yourself! Everything you want to happen will, and sometimes life might just surprise you. I hope your outfit does the trick in cheering you up—I, for one, think you look super cute! Hang in there!

I have been a little down on myself for the same reasons, even though one of my resolutions was to not be. I do love this look! The embroidery on your top is so fun and I love your heels!!

Moving is such a huge life change. Especially when you’re having to look for a job at the same time. You look gorgeous in this outfit and I love the sheer sleeves. I just got a top like this one and was thinking about pairing it with my skinny distressed jeans too! I always look at pinterest too to get some inspo!

I think you look beautiful and love the details on those heels! I hope you’re back to feeling your fabulous self soon. I think taking a look back is a great idea. I have to do the same thing, especially when it’s easy to get all blah in the winter.

    I think you look fantastic!!

  12. First lets talk about the shoes…super fun. They made me think of a line from “Reba” (if you’ve never seen the show, it’s really funny and you should watch it) back to the shoes. They are like the mullet of shoes…business in the front, party in the back…LOL I’m sorry you are feeling uninspired and your posts certainly don’t reflect that. The truth of the matter is that blogging is like a full time job in itself and most people (who aren’t bloggers) have no idea about the time it takes to publish a post. I have a really hard time coming up with content and would love to find the key to that. I don’t know how people are able to plan posts out so far in advance. I am always flying by the seat of my pants. Have a great week Roxanne!!! XOXO

  13. Sorry to read that you’re not feeling your best. Like you when I get down, I feel better when I get dressed and go out. So try that everyday. Wake up, put on a cute outfit, do hair and makeup and just go someplace. I find that as long as I start the day instead of moping around at home, I feel better!

  14. Maureen says:

Your blouse is lovely and those embroidery details on the sleeves are amazing! This is such a cute outfit. I think the cold weather has a lot to do with feeling unmotivated too. It’s hard to jumpstart on ideas when it’s so cold! Lol 😂 Hope your day is going well so far!

  15. Your top is beautiful! I think this winter is hard on everyone. It is hard to be inspired when you have to bundle up so much.

  16. I absolutely love the sleeves on your top and yes the heels are also amazing! It would make the cutest Valentine’s Day Outfit!

  17. jodie says:

Sending you tons of love and hugs, Roxanne. I’m here if you need to chat or need a little pick me up!!!
And you’re going to laugh that we are kinda twinsies. I just bought a top almost like this except the embroidery is over the entire shirt!!

Roxanne, I am sorry to hear that you haven’t been feeling your best. I know i get into a slump in January, its the winter blahs for me! Looks like your friend gave some helpful advice! 19. Aw, Roxanne, I am so sorry to hear that you are feeling a bit in a slump. I suspect it is merely a bad case of the January blues. But you are taking the necessary steps to get out of it, that’s for sure! This top is amazing and those shoes are completely wow! And what a wonderful surprise to see myself featured. Thank you so much for that. And your kind words have me blushing a little over here. I was actually going to link up that post today! Ha. So I will anyway…even though you have already essentially linked it for me. You are fabulous and I am honored to call you friend. (And let’s definitely connect on some collabs and link up co-hosting gigs!)

  20. I think it’s refreshing to be honest to our selves and each other. You’ve had a lot of changes, add some winter blues and it’s tough. Hang in there. I can only imagine the stress I’d be under if I didn’t have a clear path just yet, and a job always helps me, plus it provides an opportunity to meet people as well as it gets me working both intellectually but also physically my body feels a sense of purpose. This outfit is adorable and those shoes!!!!!! Those will be perfect as you transition into spring and hello summer.

  21. Virginia says:

Sorry it’s been rough lately. I hear ya. My husband and I moved last year and sometimes it takes a while for things to fit into place. In the meantime, your friend’s advice is good! In fact, I may go back and look through my old posts to get some inspiration myself! I love this embroidered blouse and can totally see why it’s a mood-brightener!
