This weekend is already May. Woah! Time to get some Mother’s Day gifts cookin’! (Mother’s Day is May 8, by the way.) I’ve thought long and hard about the gifts that I would feel confident recommending to you, because I know how special the mother’s in your life are.
Here is a guide of some conventional, and not-as-conventional gifts for your momma, and the special moms in your life.
So I made up a cocktail recipe. I call it the Petite Fraise (or little Strawberry.) It is really simple, delicious and refreshing.
My bff Jessi told me that she has seen people wearing field jackets everywhere. And so have I! They are perfectly casual and flattering because of the fitted style and cinched waist. They are ideal for travel, because you can layer a sweater underneath and pair with a scarf when you are not sure what the weather will be like. Or just tie it around your waist when you don’t need it, because it is so lightweight.
To help you (and Jessi) out, I rounded up some field jackets that I approve of, at various price points. Most of them come in a military green color, but some come in white, lavender, navy…and other unexpected colors. Scroll through the slideshow for more info!
Weekly Refreshment: The Field Jacket
So I kind of invited myself to this DC blogger brunch group called Bubbles & Bloggers. Because I needed to get in with a crowd that enjoys brunch, mimosas, and blogging as much as I do. I had the pleasure of meeting them at Toro Toro last weekend, and we picked a festival/boho/coachella theme.

I was shopping on a website called Shoptiques.com, which is a really cool concept. Have you ever been to a one-of-a-kind perfectly curated boutique, and you lament that you can’t find anything like it where you live? And you can not go back unless you buy a plane ticket across the country/world? Shoptiques complies local boutiques from around the world all into one website. I love it because it allows you to browse those unique and boutique-y items that you couldn’t find in a department store.
While browsing, I came across some amazing striped pieces, like this blue and white OTS dress (for $28 omg) and this amazing jumpsuit. I’m also over here tweaking over this button-front striped tunic! I was inspired by these three items to compile some other striped styles that I’m loving. Stripes never go out of style, and are definitely a closet staple (see me in stripes here and here!)
