Geodes are so fascinating. The fact that these beauties begin as mud bubbles that transform over time into beautiful gems is mystifying. Read More
After wearing a serenity blue blouse this weekend (see this post) I was inspired by Pantone’s colors of the year. Last year, the color was Marsala, a beautiful wine red. This year, Pantone chose two colors, which is out of the ordinary. The colors are Rose Quartz (a light pink) and Serenity (a periwinkle blue). The choice of the colors was meant to incorporate the warmer inviting red tones, as well as the cool and calming blue tones. You can read more about Pantone’s process and intentions here.
Happy Monday and MLK day! I hope everyone had a nice and relaxing weekend. If you have today off, cheers! I hope you’re planning to do something fun and extend your relaxation.
On Saturday Dan and I put on our walking shoes and headed to the Washington Memorial to have a little weekend picnic. We decided that since we live in such a great city with amazing sights (and might I add most of them are free) we should take advantage of that.
In line with my New Year’s resolutions (check out the post here) I have made a goal to read 25 books this year. It is kind of daunting for me (that’s one book every two weeks give or take). I’m the type that gets really into a book, then doesn’t pick up another for a few weeks. I will binge a few if I am on vacation, but I am not a steady, constant reader.
My budget has been pretty tight since we moved. Actually, my budget has always been that way, because…law school. But I am pretty frugal with my spending. I love fashion and following the trends, but I always try to find a less expensive version. And undoubtedly, an affordable option is always somewhere out there.
One of the reasons I created this blog is to share some of the current styles, but keep a realistic budget in mind. Plus, it is fun to look for bargains! Spending $700 on a pair of boots or $95 on a pom key chain is nice and all (I mean if you win the powerball) but to me the thrill is in the hunt! Almost everything in my neutral ensemble is under $40.
When I got my mail last week I was surprised to see a Martha Stewart Living magazine in my mailbox. I don’t recall ordering the magazine – so it must have been a free subscription with purchase or something. I’m not exactly the Martha Stewart type – I like to joke that I don’t bake or cook, I simply “assemble” and I can’t remember the last time I did a craft for fun.
As I flipped through the magazine (which has some great ideas on organizing by the way) I came to an article on a Washington, D.C. home featured for its unique Swedish interior style. I was immediately enamored.
Good morning! I’m so happy Monday is over and done with!
I woke up this morning knowing and being absolutely sure it was a flannel day. However, I wanted to fancy-it-up for you. Flannel and jeans was just way too safe and ordinary for this beautiful day.
